    Old timer

    Advertisement :
Over 20 years ago I was diagnosed with IC. I was lucky not to have very bad flares and usually I could control them with Uristat and they'd be gone. Seven months ago I had a knee replacement and in the past several weeks I have been plagued by terrible flares. I am now living in a different state so I went to a new Urologist. She examined me and said, "This may not even be IC, it could be an overactive bladder". She wants me to have a cystoscopy and a video test. I do not want to put myself through that. I know what IC is and believe me I am all too familiar with the flareups. I don't think she really believes in IC. These are the worse flares I have ever had. I started following IC diet yesterday and am hoping this helps. Please give me your thoughts on this. I can really use the input. I also suffer from Migranes and take Fioricet which is loaded with caffeine , could this be a problem also? Any response would so be appreciated.

Caffeine can definitely be a problem for some of us. How long have you been taking Fioricet? How was your IC diagnosed?

It would be surprising if a medication showed side effects after that long. You might want to do a diary for a while to see if you can identify any triggers.

Actually what made me wonder about it is the IC diet I read. It tells how very bad caffeine and cranberry juice is. Thatís what I was living on for days. Iím thinking I brought on a terrible flare up since Iíve had IC. Now I still canít decide if I want to go through with the cystoscopy with this New urologist

If you've been drinking cranberry juice, I strongly suspect that's the problem.
