    New flare has me anxious

    Advertisement :
    Hi all,

My last flare was about six months ago. It lasted about six weeks. I am about one week into a new one. Thinking about feeling this way for another five weeks is making me crazy. I have been thinking about it all day and have the worst headache on top of this horrible IC. This morning my IC had my full attention but this afternoon my headache has taken over my life. I have already taken two doses of headache meds so far and cant wait for the next one.

On top of all this I just lost my job and all I do is stress about it every waking moment. I was terminated for non-disclosure of a medical condition. This was further perverted into an accusation of lying on my application four years ago. I have been a good employee for four years, you would think they would let it go. I gave them full disclosure a year and a half ago when I filed for FMLA and was approved. Just looking for a kind word. I am hoping everyone is feeling good today.

    Thanks

Sorry to hear all what has happened, as an employer I can see their side, without disclosing you had prior medical conditions, you took the option away from them to make an informed decision about hiring you.

Myself if you had been a good employee I would have over looked it but some people are more sticklers for rules.

I know lots if people debate what to put on their applications, but for a job it is best not to lie or omit things.

I replied earlier to I believe about following the diet and staying on it.

I know it all seems over whelming at the moment. Take this time to re look at what you are eating, how you can stay on the diet, while you look for a better job.

Things will get better, you will find another job, you will be at your best and be able to do your job because you are going to be following the diet.

I believe things happen for a reason, your must be to get a better job.

Try not to worry it only makes everything worse.
My are with you all. May you all find a way to peace and joy in your lives.

Thank you for the reply. I had surgery about eight months ago. I was a two level fusion. At the time I was hired, I had gone to my dr for neck pain. I was put on appropriate meds, non narcotic at that time. No mention of surgery at this time. Three years later my neck pain became worse and I decided to do something about it. I disagree with company assessment that I hid my condition. It was general pain like arthritis. I had no idea I would need surgery. A year and a half ago, I filed for FMLA because the company doesn't tolerate missed days. They give you no medical leave whatsoever. I used all my vacation for sick or dr visits. At the time of filing for FMLA I fully disclosed everything in my medical file. No problem with that at all. Now eighteen months later its an issue.

All this stress maybe the reason I am having this big time flare. I am also upset it took me so long to get my IC under control last time and now its back with little deviation from my diet.

    Thanks again

Well with that explanation I agree you did nothing wrong. That is like not telling them you have a hang nail. 99% of the time it goes away with no further problem, they would think you were easting their time if you wrote that down. Then there is that odd time that the hang nail gets infected.

You are in a ****ty position, sorry

You might want to check the Americans With Disabilities laws to be sure the firing was legal. It sounds like it could be borderline --- have you talked with an attorney?

That said, I suggest you contact your doctor about something to help relieve your current stress --- and please --- change the "little deviation from my diet" to "NO deviation."

    Sending well wishes,
    Donna

Thank you for your thoughts. I did look into the disability act and discussed with some knowledgeable people. I was not hired with a disability nor did I change my status to being disabled so I was advised against this course of action. I also work in an employ at will, state which means either party can terminate without recourse. I do have a meeting with company tomorrow for my formal appeal. Wish me luck.

I might add I am a Christian believer and I trust the will of God in this matter. I will leave it up to him. Funny my wife thinks its His will I don't work. Not sure I am ok with that just yet. She tells me men are hard headed, I think shes right. lol. I do know this week with my IC and spinal pain I am so glad I am not working. Of course everyday is not like this week. I can usually handle one or the other. lol. But not both at the same time.

I hope I don't offend anyone with my belief system. I feel you live what you believe. And so I try.

    Thanks

Even if you weren't hired with a disability, I do think you should find out your rights under the ADA laws.

Re: New flare has me anxious

    Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to check in and say hi. I have been looking for a job but I cant find anything. I had a job interview yesterday and was offered a job that was an hour and a half drive for me each way. I am so upset I cant find a job digging a ditch. lol. The job is also more physical in nature and I don't think I am able to do it with my health limitations now. On top of that they want me to work four twelve hour days a week. Twelve hours will just kill me.

It is so humiliating to not be able to work. I feel totally useless. I hate the way my life is going right now. I have always tried to be kind and compassionate to everyone. I help other financially when I can yet things never work out for me. I feel like why should I bother. I know you should help other because it is the right thing to do but when things never go your way its just depressing.

I am sorry for this rant, I just want to find a hole jump in, and cover it over me.
Thank you to anyone taking the time to read this.

I know it can be discouraging to look for, but not find, a job --- it can be a problem for even healthy people --- and it doubles for those of us with health problems. Don't give up --- you will find something you can handle. Also good is that with IC we have some protection with the Americans With Disabilities laws.

    I'm sending an encouraging hug,
    Donna
