I did try smart body few years ago. I didn't click with the PT. Didn't seem to make much progress. Had a bad experience with another PT last week. She said estim and kegels were the answer for hyertonic PF. Really?? That's everything i've been told not to do. I'm trying another urogynocologist tomorrow. I'll keep you posted. Hopefully he'll have a rec for a good PT too. I saw someone at Deborah Jackson Physical therapy recently who seems pretty good. She doesn't know much about IC though. I think that finding the right people are key. I just ordered another book from Amazon titled "The Interstitial Solution" by Nicole Cozean. So much awesome info and made me feel hopeful.

Yes please keep me posted. I'm just self-diagnosing right now and have yet to see a specialist. Thank you and best wishes in your healing.

Every PT I've ever been to recommended no kegels at all! I'm surprised you were told to do them. Finding the right therapist is so important and can take time, but keep patient and persistent and you'll find the right fit. I also always recommend working with an IC specialist at the same time.

Absolutely! My PT has me so the "happy baby" (you should be able to Google that one). You can also work on deep breathing, and when you breathe in, work to push the pelvic/ vaginal muscles down and out. When you breathe out, pull them back in to a normal state. There's also an exercise you can do to bring mobility back to the muscled through the abdomen. Take a pinch of skin in your hand, using just your finger tips, and squeeze to comfort and then pull slowly and hold in all directions. You will feel a stretch and maybe a bit of soreness in those problem areas. But it helps. Those are good starting points, but consulting a physical therapist is always a good idea too. Each person's needs vary. I hope these help you! And feel free to reply or message me if you want more.
