Red face bladder pain in the morning

    Advertisement :
I wake up with bladder pain almost every morning. Sometimes when I stay up and empty my bladder all nite the pain is not so bad. Does anyone else get bladder pain in the morning more often then at night? After a surgery that nicked my bladder 4 years ago and left me with cronic pain. Then I was told I had I.C.
and that the surgery may have accelerated my condition. I hate this morning pain because it makes it hard drive my children to school early in the morning.

I'm just the opposite. Even in a flare, I feel pretty good when I first wake up. It's later in the day when the pain hits.

Have you checked the ICN Shop? for US & Canada for all others

I hurt almost all the time, If I "Accidently" sleep longer, I have had several times I have woken up in pain in the morning, I think it may be because I didn;t get up my usual 3 times to pee... and my bladder just can't handle that...

Yes, I had that for awhile. I found if I drank some water right away when I got up, the pain eased up faster (guess it diluted the urine again...)

When I increased the Elavil to 20mg from 10mg, it became much less....

Hope you find something that works

I know where you are coming from, I have that happen some times too. It can be very intense and if you have to wait for the bathroom it takes even longer for it to settle down.I use my heating pad after this happens and it helps it calm down faster.

Hang in there & take care.

Yes, I also wake up with bladder pain quite often. When this first started, I would cancel my plans for the day, thinking I would feel crummy the whole day. But usually this pain goes away shortly after getting out of bed.

I have two kinds of pain in the morning. One is cramping in my bladder, which I believe may be from something I ate the day before (I am only guessing?). The other is retention pain, from not going to the bathroom all night long. Elavil thankfully allows me to sleep most nights, but depending how much I drank the night before, it puts me in pain the next morning. Today was one of those mornings! Now this afternoon I am feeling better.
    Its certainly a viscious cycle!!!

My pain is worse in the mornings than any other time of the day unless i am in a flare. I try not to drink anything a few hours before bed and make sure i use the bathroom before i fall asleep but even that doesnt help much. I always thought it was from going so long between using the bathroom. My pain meds wear off during the night and i always have to wait until they kick in before i can even function.

Now that I'm on things that make me sleepy I tend to not wake up that much at night and it hurts in the morning a lot too. I guess from holding it in there for awhile. Sorry I know that makes for a very uncomfortable drive for you in the morning. I hope it gets better. Take care - CHris

When I'm flaring my bladder pain is also worst in the morning, I have to get up sometimes very early and drink a good big glass of water with a couple of prelief or tums and then the pain backs down a bit (but of course doesn't go away since I'm in a flare...)

    Blessings, Lori

I have found that any time I go for any length of time without emptying my bladder, the pain is worse. If for some reason, I can't go when the urge first happens, I end up in real pain! ( I always kind of have the urge to go but, when I get the feeling I have to go now!)
