Overactive bladder and incontinence symptoms are very common in adults but frequently do not receive the clinical attention that they deserve. The current article discusses recommendations for the evaluation and treatment of adults with overactive bladder and incontinence symptoms.

Educational Objectives
The goal of this newsletter is to generate awareness about chronic pelvic pain syndromes and to discuss the evolving diagnostic and management options for CPPS/IC. Upon completion of this newsletter, participants should be able to:
1. Identify IC/PBS as a condition that is highly prevalent but frequently misdiagnosed and/or underdiagnosed.
2. Clarify the benefits of early diagnosis and treatment
3. Discuss how a diagnostic and treatment system for IC/PBS may be necessary to promote clarity in communication, leading to earlier diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
4. Develop diagnostic and treatment recommendations based on the best available clinical and research experience that would meet the needs of clinicians and patients.

• Review the etiology, epidemiology, and most common symptoms of interstitial cystitis.
• Identify the differential diagnosis of urinary frequency, urgency, and/or pain.

• Discuss the therapeutic strategies for interstitial cystitis, including pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic intervention, experimental, and second-line treatments.
• Discuss the role of the pharmacist in managing psychosocial consequences of interstitial cystitis, identifying patients with interstitial cystitis, and monitoring medication compliance.
