Some have reported problems with tylenol. I only take it occasionally and it has never bothered me.
Have you talked with your doctor about medications to help with sleep?
Warm healing thoughts,
Donna

Tylenol really does bad things to my bladder! I took it for a headache once & my bladder hurt so bad I forgot all about my headache. (Guess it worked, sort of.)
Now, if I really need a non-drowsy painkiller, I do still take Tylenol, but take 2 Preliefs to every one Tylenol & that works ok for me.
Thanks to postings here, I've also tried 2 TUMS (peppermint, regular strength) to calm down a flare & that can really help.
If your flare continues though, might be a good idea to check in with doctor to make sure no infection & talk to him/her about sleep problem?

Hope you feel better soon,

It could be the coating if you are taking it in a capsule form rather than the uncoated pill...........just a thought because I know some people have reported problems with the capsule shells.

You might talk to your dr. about taking a pain medicine called Bextra. I got it from my gyn to take when my period cramps were extremely bad. It also might help with the bladder. I know that when I take it, I'm up and ready to go in about an hour. Chelsey

Tylenol never bothers me, even extra strength. But, I only use the white tablets. I never use the tylenol that is in a capsule or colored anything except plain old white.
Maybe this would help?
take care,
Hope

I second bextra~
I can not do tylenol... but I can do Advil and BExtra... I took bextra for my nerve damage in my hands and my bladder was great for 6 months... my hands got better stopped bextra and now my urogyno wants me to take it... on their site it says it can be used for period pevlic pain and I am hearing lots of other ICers say they use it too for their IC pain..... I can take up to 40mg a day while in IC flare.... I usually take 20mg just at night and when I have no pain I take just a 10mg every other day to maintain it in my blood stream.... now both my bladder is mostly quiet and my ahdns never hurt now!!!

Photomom,
This might sound dumb, but why do your hands hurt? Do you think it has something to do with IC.

I had bells palsey (facial and body nerve palsey was the final DX) back in august 2003... I have moderate to severe nerve damage in both hands. I have spent many months on drugs and physical hand thereapy. So far I have about 95% relief of pain. My hands mainly hurt now after a long day on the computer, and of course after photographing a 6+ hour wedding with heavy equipment....
I have had baldder problems for a very long time.... after I had the palsey about 4 months later (and went off of BEXTRA for my hands) My bladder pain, frequency and urgency came back FULL FORCE.... with in weeks of coming off bextra I was DX with IC. Never put the two together.
I sought a second opinion after a bad experience with my first urologist (he handed me the word IC on a peice of paper, said I had it, I would have to live with it for the rest of my life and go research it on the internet, he gave me 3 RX and said I will see you in a year...) so I went out looking for a new Dr to confirm I had IC and how to TREAT it.....
In 10 months of seeing this new urogyno, I have had endo removed (for the first time... never thought that my pelvic pain was not bladder related), uterian cysts removed and IC confirmed and treated..... 8 weeks ago the Dr suggested Bextra and I told him I took it a while ago for my nerve damage.... wha la! That was my key to painless days!
Crazy eh? Its amazing how differently IC affects everyone.... some people can take evail and some can't..... I couldn't.... some do well with elmiron,,,, so far I seem to be doing ok on it and all my liver panels have come back fine..... to bad there isn't one cure all pill for us all!
(((((HUGS))))) to everyone.... I hope you all feel better soon! Sorry for the novel.... feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

oh ruth... btw .... tylenole PM has benedryl in it... thats why you probably do so well with it..... Its relieves the pain and works as an antihitamine and helps you sleep..... If your not in pain and need to sleep my Dr suggested melatonin and benedryl.... Ambien was way to addictive for me....

Hi, Photomom - I was just curious - with the Bells Palsey and other symptoms - were you ever tested for Lyme disease? So many of your symptoms seem consistent with that, from what I've been reading. Maybe it would be worth it to be tested?
I've been reading that it's the fastest growing infectious disease outside of AIDS in the country, so it's not impossible to have especially if you live in an area where there are the ticks that carry it.
Blessings, Lori
