Seasonal allergies and ic safe meds?

Hi,
Can anyone recommend ic safe meds for seasonal allergies -- sneezing, sinus, headache, runny nose. I know antihistimines work, but the side effects of sleepiness and constipation are too hard on me. Any of the nasal sprays safe? People tell me they should be fine, but don't they drip down your throat and therefore into your system? All help appreciated.

Thanks,
Hope

On my research of meds affecting the bladder ....I have found that decongestants have hurt some people's bladder....Flonase is a good choice.....I use vics on my throat....(when It is bad I will just use the ice blue which is a topical annalgesic)....Anyway, meds like Singulair that have been used to treat IC but are originally allergy meds would be the kinds to try. (in my opinion)

I like the non presciption Afrin Nasal Decongestant....I don't think it has hurt my bladder.

One other one to look into....Alavert...newly non prescription says it is non drowsy....I have used without noticing problems they have $4 coupon for them at their site and my doc will give me a presciption for things I don't need a presciption for and than they cost me less.

Hope that helps.

I am taking Atarax at night, 25 to 50 mg (it does make me drowsy but helps me sleep) During the day I take Allegra or Claritin with no IC complications. I have found that if I keep my allergies under control my Ic is better. Good Luck.

I have been in the ER two times when my hayfever got so bad this time of year........but now that I am on atarax at night, all I need is NasalCrom (a nose spray) and I have minimal symptoms........

It is important to check with your doctor if you are going to take more than one antihistamine. I was told I could not take anything during the day, even though I take the atarax at night.

Also, some of the antihistamines (OTC and Rx) have decongestants mixed with them. One of the things that pushed me over the edge was taking Claritin D one fall.........

Good Luck
