Need advice on telling new job about IC.
Hey ya'll, I need some advice. I may be possibly getting a new job that I'm very excited about. The problem is that I'm afraid if I tell them about my IC that they will not want me. I'm not sure if that is illegal but I'm sure some employers still do that kind of thing.
Have any of you had any expierience telling a new employer about your Ic and possible bathroom needs and even possible Dr appointment needs? If so, how did all that go? What suggestions might you offer?
I sure appreciate your help!!!!
Cheryl

Here is a link to some of the stuff I found in the handbook concerning work and IC http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/work.html . hope it helps. It is so hard to know how a new employer will respond.. I would hope they are understanding and welcome to your needs. Whatever you decide I wish you the best and hope you get the job.

I don't know that legally you have to say anything about it and I have had jobs and never told anyone unless I had to. Much of this will have to do with what kind of job you have. If getting up and going to the bathroom is no problem then I would most likely wait to tell them.

I'd wait. Maybe just get a dr. note saying you need to use the bathroom. Try that to see if it works for a while. Chelsey

You shouldn't have any problems. If you do, then ask your doctor for a note, I had to do this last year, as my boss at the time, was giving me a hard time about going to the doctors " all the time". My boss now, I sat down with her and explained about my medical problems as best as I could, and she just had one request and that was to keep her inform of my appointments.
