Atarax: What dosage?
Hey all.
I was wondering, for those who were on Atarax, how many milligrams do you take per 24 hours. I am seeing my doctor on monday, and I would like to know, in case he is unfamiliar with Atarax as a potential IC treatment.
Thanks.

Hi Daniel,
When I took Atarax, I had 25mg tablets. I remember starting out taking 1 tablet at bedtime. Then increased to 2 tablets at bedtime. I'm not sure if it helped my IC, but it definetly helped me to sleep.
Then I got a crazy hives reaction and had to stop. Don't worry about the hives thing tho. That is something that my quirky body does. After I build up alot of some meds in my system, I develop a hives reaction. It's bizarre. Anyway, it did help me while I was taking it. Hope it helps you!

I have been on 25mg of Atarax since January. I know that people work up to more but my doctor has not increased mine at all. It does help me sleep.

I started on Atarax in January 2003 at 25 mg at bedtime and gradually worked up to 75 mg at bedtime. It has SAVED me at night. I only get up once or twice (compared to 10-12 times before) and I sleep much better. At first I suffered the fatigue but my body got used to it and now I don't miss a day of my Atarax - I make sure to never run out!

Could someone who is familar with Atarax please
tell me if you can take it while taking Elavil??? I take
50mg of Elavil at bedtime but still get up 10 to 12 times
a night to void. I know when I had a bladder biopsy I
had mast cells. Thank you for any input.

Here is a link to what is says in the ICN patient handbook...
http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/oral.html
I would say that it can help with pain and with frequency...Do you have a problem with allergies? Mast cells? My biopsy showed an abundant amount of mast cells in my bladder lining. Maybe that is why it is helpful to me!

Hi there! I take 25mg of both atarax and elavil at bedtime (with prelief). It appears to be working really well.
I hope it will work for you too!

Thank you to all who answered my question about
taking Atarax combined with Elavil. I'm going to
ask my Dr. about trying the combo. Hope all have
a painfree and pleasant week. (((HUGS))) Rita
