Std
I have not been diagnosed with IC but it is strongly suspected. I am like the majority of you having been put thru the ringer by numerous doctors. Been to the Emergency room etc...
I have not been to work for two weeks now and applied for STD.
My primary care physician says that he will only sign for disability that I have a limitation of the need to urinate frequently!
I am currently on Zoloft, Elmiron, Urelief, Ditrol, & Darvaset for pain.
I refuse to work in pain. (I will probably be living in the ditch soon). I see the IC specialist next Wednesday...I am hoping that he will sign the STD paperwork for me, unfortunately it will be two days after the deadline.
I can't believe that I have worked for so many years, incur a chronic medical condition and can get tossed out into the ditch!
Is anyone else on STD or LTD? Is this uncommon?
Any thoughts?

Have you seen a urologist and had any diagnostic tests? If not, I really think you need to go that route.
I suggest you read the information in the Patient Handbook at http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/ You'll find some excellent self help tips there, including the IC diet, which is a real help to most of us.
Hopefully, once you are diagnosed and begin treatment, you will feel better.
Sending healing thoughts,
Donna

I have seen a regular urologist. I had no reaction to the potassium test, he told me that if I had IC there would have been a reaction?? He is referring me to the specialist.

My gyno says that my urologist is wrong and doesn't know what he what he is doing. He believes it is IC.

Hopefully, the specialist will do a cysto/hydro. I can't see how you can win a claim without more tests done.

I could be wrong, but most ICers do react to the potassium test. I also think as of now, the most accurate test is the cysto/hyrdo which is about 90% accurate[correct me if I am wrong gals,}. I would think if you test neg for both, chances are you may not have IC but some other problem, which would probably be a blessing in disguise. I wish you luck in your diagnosis and you claims but I do believe you need more tests. This is a good group to listen to as you will see.
