question
if you take atarax at night, does it only help with nighttime flares? or is it effective for daytime problems too?

My understanding was that it was supposed to help in the daytime as well but helped most at night.
I was searching for more info and was having some difficulty.

Here is a link to the links I got after google searching this site.
Maybe something can help you.
Take Care

It definately helps me during the day also. Hydroxyzine is the mainstay of my IC treatment. I just keep getting better and better. I have been on it for 2 years now and I just spent a week with company running all over everywhere. My husband and I were talking yesterday that we did not make any potty stops because I could not wait until we got to our next stop. I hope it helps you also.

Hi there! It definitely helps both for nighttime and daytime for me. It helps me to sleep through the night. If I accidentally miss a dose, I definitely feel the effects the following evening.
Hope it works for you too!
