Wellbutrin XL vs. SR

Hi everyone,

I have not yet been diagnosed with IC, but I have a pretty good feeling that it is what I have. I've been modifying my diet and trying to keep track of what causes problems. The only thing I'm pretty sure of is that Vitamins cause a big problem for me. Also caffeine, artificial sweetners and tomatoes.

I recentely switched from Wellbutrin SR to XL and am wondering if this is contributing to the problem at all. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with Wellbutrin relating to IC flares?

Thanks so much,
Stacy

I believe that I had an allergic reation to Wellbutrin XL, so I didn't take it very long. I don't know how it affects a flare, but I do know that this drug 'speeds you up', so it may be possible that it's speeding up your bladder also. I know a lot of people who couldn't take this drug because it made them nervous, gave them panic attacks, & caused sleeping problems.

Thanks!
What type of allergic reaction did you have? Did it involve your bladder? I'm considering switching back to Wellbutrin SR. It is what I took for a long time without many problems.

I'm aware of the speeding you up action of this drug, it is the only drug for depression that I've really responded to, it's kind of unfortunate.

Thanks for the info,
Stacy

No, my allergic reation didn't involve my bladder. I started taking this drug & the more days that went by, the more nausea I got. It just kept getting worse & worse until all I could do was lay in bed with no sound or lights & the lymph nodes in my armpits swelled up to golf ball size. On the patient pamplet, it said this was an allergic reation to the med, so I called my dr & told her all of this. She was unconcerned & told me to keep taking it & to come in for an appt. in a couple days. Well, I'm not that stupid, so I did not take her advice & I did quit taking it. What do you know? I started feeling better & better & the nodes were getting smaller & smaller. By the time that my appt. came around, I was almost back to my normal self & the nodes were almost back to normal also. And do you know what my dr. told me? "I think it was a virus." Whatever! And then she told me to start taking the med again! I just couldn't believe it! I'm never going back to this dr. again.

Wow.. I'm sorry you had to go through that. What a horrible doctor, I'm glad you decided to ditch her!
