just started hydroxyzine
Hi Everyone, I just started taking Hydroxyzine. So far so good. I take 25 mg. at night and then I will increase it to 50 next week. I don't feel too much more groggy than before bc I was also used to taking Tylenol PM every night bc of my FM. I am praying that this will help me. I really don't want to do the DMSO if this doesn't.....how many of you have had success and how soon after taking it? thanks

Dana,
I have had great success with Hydroxyzine. I take 25 mg. at night and have been taking it for about 1 1/2 years now. I noticed relief within a couple of weeks of starting it. I can sleep 3-4 hours now at a time, so that means I am only up once during the night ususally. I didn't realize how much sleep deprivation I had before. I hope it helps you. Good Luck.

Hydroxyzine, Elavil,
I just did a post on Cipro, but I wanted to say I also take Elavil (10mg) and Hydroxyzine (25) when I want to sleep better. I'm nervous taking all these meds and alternative stuff, and I also have some back-up codeine but I don't think I can take them together so I get into a bind.

I've finished one year of herbal study. Yeah! For the most part, herbs are much safer than RX drugs, but sometimes we just need the immediate strength and drastic actions of a drug.
I had to stop instills of heparin because it was hurting to much to do (after I peed it out it hurt for a day or two and no improvement. I may try lo-fric catheters). I am going to try valium suppositories.
At the moment I try to take Planetary Formulas msm/glucosimine with herbs, sialic acid, barley grass, Life Extension multi, vitamin K and mixed E's and CoQ10, calcium and other minerals, an elderberry extract, probiotics, chlorella, fish oil, and bed-time tea with valerian sometimes. If I feel I am getting a cold I take American ginseng, Yin Chiao (classic chinese anti-cold formula), and andrographis paniculata- - so far these three have stopped 2 colds from developing and they never bother my bladder - they seem to actually help but that could be coincidental. I've had some better days punctuated by flares I think from real tea or chai or green tea (yes I cheat). It sounds like a lot of pills but I usually can't take all these pills every day so I don't.

purpleviolet, if you're taking prescription medications along with alternative medications, I strongly suggest you be sure your doctor knows exactly what you are taking, just in case there are interactions between any of them.

Hi Dana,
I just wanted to let you know that I too have started the Hydroxy about 2 months ago. I started out taking it just at night with the elivil so it was just 25mgs at night but then the dr told me to slow try to add it into my daytime as needed. He said that after awhile the sleepyness should wear off. I think it has made a really big difference in my case. I think it is helping to control my flare ups better. Still not totally but I know that will just take time and patience.
Keep with it I think you will find that it will really help you alot.
Take Care and good luck with the Hydroxy.
