Question When do I tell

i have a great internship this summer. It has been going great. The only thing that I am concerned with is telling my boss ab my IC. Some of my cowrkers know about my diet but not the extent of the problem. All the major flare ups that have happened have been after work or on th weekend, but I feel like a bad one coming on. How do I tell my boss what ineed? I have to work ten weeks and have no time to make up the weeks before school starts back up if a I miss a week or two or three. I also do not want them to start treating me differently. Right now I am sort of an equal, but people always treat me differently when they find out I am sick. I just feel like when they find out that I am going to lose I don't know credibility. I am scared they are going to think I am not capable of doing my job. I know I have to to tell them. Any suggestions how to go about it?

When you say internship do you mean that you have the job and are in training? If so, then at the end of the internship might be a good time to share the information with your supervisor. That way you are able to verify that you are able to handle the job, but that there might be some times when you need time off for a medical appointment. There's no reason anyone should think differently of you any more than they would if you were diabetic or hypoglycemic or asthmatic. If you learn to think of it that way, your own attitude will show pretty distinctly.

Warm hugs,
Donna

I am not a medical authority nor do I offer medical advice. In all cases, I strongly encourage you to discuss your medical treatment with your personal medical care provider. Only they can, and should, give medical recommendations to you.
