It's My Birthday Today and Elavil is Making it a Good One!
Hello all,
Today is my birthday and thanks to elavil, I feel like it'll be a good one! When my symptoms started back in July I have had constant pain. Granted, it has been at various levels but there has not truly been a whole day without some sort of pain! When I first started taking it about 7 weeks ago, I immediately noticed a lowering of the level of pain but then this last week, I realized I was having whole days without any pelvic symptoms! I've now had three days in a row pain free and would have had more in a row but I attempted to have some Earl Grey tea last week( I actually felt sooo normal that I thought geez, maybe its gone, maybe its just PFD) and it sent me into a one day flare . But, it was only one day!
So,after not feeling like I could go anywhere on a trip let alone a day trip, I'm actually going to go up to our casino with my "sis-in-law", which I truly didn't think would have been possible 7 weeks ago! Its like a little bit of my life is coming back and my lord its wonderful.
Now, it's not perfect. I have a constant stuffed nose from it and though the higher amount(20 mgs), lets me sleep better, it makes me too dopey, so am back to 10 mgs. I still have all of my joint pain ( and right now its worse but I think thats the winter weather causing it to flare) but I can deal with that. So here's wishing all of you a great day and hope that you find some joy and relief!
Cynthia

Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Lexapro (since 2003 for depression & anxiety, but also helps my IC)
Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)
My IC story: http://www.ic-network.com/patientstories/kim.html It's very outdated now. I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for several years now.

Happy Birthday and hope you win some money at the casino. It's so good to know that you are finding relief with Elavil...I have found relief with Imipramine.

It's wonderful that you're feeling better! Do they have card tables at the casino you're going to? (That's my favorite casino draw! ) I hope you win big, -or at least break even, and have a wonderful pain-free happy birthday!

Thanks Everyone!
I have to say it was one of my best birthdays in a long time! My "sis-in-law" and I were laughing and joking the whole time(we played the one armed bandits), lost all of my money and then at the very end came back and one 2/3rds of it back! The drive home was gorgeous with a beautiful pink sunset and......she has a new car that had heated seats(Yeah I started to flare a little) and OMG those seats felt sooooo good! . My boyfriend cooked us a beautiful "chinese" IC safe meal(Iate a little sweet and sour sauce on the side with prelief) and then we had danish kringle for my cake. When I got home there was the most beautiful fragrant bouquet of stargazer lilies with a card on which he wrote:
"To my Love
My Strength
My Compassion
My Laughter
I love you in all ways
Always!"
I just lost it when I read that. It was such a perfect day and then I wake up to all of these great birthday wishes from you ladies, I truly feel blessed.
Thank you!
Cynthia
