Elavil helped my Vuluvodynia! BUT I had to discontinue it due to side effects of a racing heart, HB and weight gain.. But it was the best medicine I have been on so far for V.. Sad I could not take it.. I am on Lyrica now and it is helping..

It helped me a lot. With in a month of starting...it brought my pain from a 10 to a 3 or less.
Lately, I am having perineum pain that the Elavil isn't helping...but OVER ALL it brought down my pain A LOT.
I feel like I have a decent life MOST of the time, with horrible days SOMETIMES as opposed to before Elavil when my life turned into pain hell.
I may have gained 6 pounds or so...but haven't had the crazy weight gain or sugar cravings some others have had.
And as a bonus, if you're an insomniac, you won't be one anymore. I have had insomnia for years and elavil lets me sleep.

Does it seem to help more with the irritation on a daily basis??? Would it be helpful if most of my pain is associated with intercourse??? I have been using a cream with Amitripiline in it and that helps with the irritation on a daily basis but does not help with the pain during sex....
