Alesse and Estrace Cream
The doctor today wants me back on Birth Control since I have been having basically a continual cycle since he took me off back in April. I have a regular period and spotting all in between, which means I am in a continual flare. I was wondering if anyone else has had success with Alesse and noticed a change in their IC symptoms. We are trying different things before resorting to ovary removal. They have run all sorts of tests and so far nothing is "out of whack" hormonally speaking. I beg to differ since I am WAY too emotional now.
Also, they are leaning towards me having Vulvadyinia (sorry, I am sure that is not spelled that way!), and he gave me some Estrace Cream. Can I take it with birth control as well? I forgot to ask. Anyone here have thoughts on Estrace Cream in general.
Thanks for your imput.
Skyn

I am using the Estrace Cream for Vulvodynia and for me, it is finger-tip application only onto the affected spots. Hence the amount of cream is very small. It helps me a lot (even though the AB cream helps me more) and as I take it the amount of hormones is minimal. However, with a tricky subject like birthcontroll I guess you better always ask your doc ...

You mention AB cream. What is that?
Thanks

It is a Amitryptilin and Baclofen Cream (2%, 2%) - it is EXCELLENT! I put it on every morning and basically takes away all the pain (I have a mild VV though). IN the evening I take the Estrace cream, but I am always looking forward to the next morning.
You can also google it in the internet - there are a couple of articles about this cream availalbe.
It is definitely a worth a try! Good luck! GNM

I am allergice to oral Amitriptyline, I wonder if I would have a different reaction topically? Also, do you use the Estrace cream daily? He told me once or twice a week, but we were not talking about it topically. Thanks

Yes, I am using both creams daily: Estrace in the evening, AB in the morning, because it calms everything down...
Both, however, are only topical application for me.
Sorry, but I have no idea if you might have the same negative reaction to Amitryptilin topical as you have orally.
But I think it is definitely worth asking your doc because this cream is a hudge relief and there are a lot of articles about its efficiency...

Thanks - I have used the Estrace Cream three times this week, but only topically. I have not noticed a huge difference, but I wanted to ease into it a little bit. I appreciate your advice!
Wishing you well.
