Pooping - Let's just get it all out there.
Ever since I have been diagnosed with IC, my bowels have been different. I've always have had loose bowels and gone at least once a day. Now that I'm on imipramine, Elmiron and various other stuff, I sometimes get constipated. I find that certain foods help like blueberries, but sometimes I have to resort to my daughter's laxative (powder stuff prescribed by doc - nice and gentle). What the heck? Also, when I do finally go after using her laxative, I feel WAY better. The colon must press on the bladder? Something squashes something. Why now? Because of the IC?
*sigh*

I have the same problem.
I take Colace (Phillips is the generic).
It hurts and hurts and when I poop I feel better
Maybe it's just because of our body chemistry changing to the disease.. Idk..
My gyno suggested that I be tested for IBS but no foods bring about a change....
Btw... mine is green. Is that bad?

I am currently diagnosed with IC, PFD, endometriosis, asthma, and vulvodynia/contact dermititis, IBS, and fibromyalgia.
I am only taking medication for my fibromyalgia as my IC seems to be calmed down/in remission:
Neurontin (in place of lyrica because I can't afford it- lol) 300 mg x3 a day
Relafin (anti-inflammatory) 500 mg x2 a ay
Flexeril (muscle relaxer) 5-10 mg as needed
Seasonal (for endometriosis)
Endometriosis:
Continuous birth control (Seasonal)
First laparoscopy showed moderate to severe endo
Have been on with great success:
-Amitryptiline, Hydroxyzine, cocktail instillations, pelvic floor therapy... These things have led my IC to be under control.

I don't think it's bad. When I started taking Elmiron, mine turned sort of light colored (almost beige) except when I eat a lot of carob and then it's really dark. Funny, right?!

I have a confirmed case of IBS-D for well over 25 years.
Some days it's bad , and I have messed myself badly , which resorts in a UTI from that mush going up my urinary tract. Then it burns like crazy.
I think this is what caused my IC Bladder Ulcers.

I had terrible constipation when I was on OAB meds. Now that I am pretty symptom free,my bowels are regular as clock work.

If your stools are hard, I suggest you talk with your doctor about a stool softener. I know that if I eat enough fiber I'm fine, but if not, I have learned that I need the stool softener. Just remember that it's not okay to strain.

I have been told that IC for some people can cause the bladder spasam and the bowel is really close so when one does they both do, so I think this is why our bowels bother our bladders too and visa versa. I have found for me to really make an effort to keep reg and soft my bladder fairs much better. Either C or D will set my bladder off. I have IBS-C for the most part so it has been a struggle but once I found out how much better my bladder did taking care of my bowels, it has become much easier.
It was a long time before I was diagnosed with IC and I flared for years, but once I found out I may have IC I realized that the metamucile orange flavored sugar free was probably making me worse, so when i quite using that it helpped alot.
Also read the possible side effects of meds you are on some can cause constipation in some people.

If the stools are green this can be caused by things in the diet that are colored red or purple, blue. Any "loud" colors in food or drinks. Ex: red Kool-Aid, Cherry Mountain Dew, the new purple Mountain Dew, blueberries. Colored Mountain Dew is notorious for causing green stools.
