opana er

hi everyone,

is anyone on opana er? i just started it this wednesday, 20mg, every 12 hrs. at first i thought it worked ok, but as the days have gone by it seems that i have had more and more "break through pain" which i take percocet 10mg/325 for. is this something that will continue? or does it take a little while for it to fully work. the whole point of going on this was because i felt i was taking so many percocets a day. i know it is my fault that my pm opana is not working because i forgot you cannot eat with it and i unfortunately did and now i feel as if i never took it. also i feel like everything i read is confusing, does this drug contain morphine? my PM dr clearly does not listen if this is the case! first he asked me if i wanted to try nucynta and i reminded him that i did try it, last month when i saw him, and it cause bad flares, so then he suggested this opana er, but when i met him for the first time i had said i would like to try really hard to not ever go on morphine and he said there was so many other options, not to worry...he didnt explain opana to me, just that its similar to percocet. just a long lasting drug...thanks for reading my post!!!

Hey Jenn ,
I havent tried Opana , but I looked it up and it is like morphine . I am on the fentanyl patch now and Ive been having the same problem ! I have tried several " long acting pain meds " , this is my third ( methadone , er morphine and now fentanyl patch ) I , for the same reason as you went on long-acting , I felt like I was taking way to much oxycodone for my pain per day , but I havent been able to find anything that helps me long term
My pm docs wanted me to go on oxycotin , but my ins said they wont cover it unless I try fentanyl first , Im on the lowest mcg 25 , Im hoping that if they put me on a stronger patch that it will help better !!! If you really are against taking morphine and its not working for you anyway , I would talk to your pm doc AGAIN bout not wanting morphine like meds and the fact is wasnt working anyway ..... It gets so tiring playing the med game !!! I wish you the best of luck !! Let us know how everything turns out for you

thanks for the reply. i was on the patches that you are on now and they did nothing for me except i had a difficult time sleeping while on them...i hope you have better luck. when i looked up the opana it says "like morphine" as you said, but does that mean it is morphine? i am wondering also if these "extended release", "long-acting", "all day relief" meds take time to work...

Opana

Hey I just started OPANA ER today.I was on four percocet a day(which I really felt like I needed more but I am on a pain management program and they only give you enough for 4 a day) I didnt want to be taking all that percocet because I was afraid of side effects and such. Now I am lookingup OPANA andit seems to have MORE side effects and LESS releif. ugh I am just a little nervous about this whole thing. Has anyone had any relief from the OPANA?
Also by no means do I take the percocet for recreational use. I am in severe pain due to my PFD and IC.But people seem to treatme sometimes like I am out for the "high"!
When I first started the percocet over a year ago. I did feel the "high" but that wore off quickly and now I just feel somewhat normal besides still feeling the pain.
I was wondering if any of you felt euphoric while taking the Opana ER. I work for a private investigator and CANNOT be loopy at work since I am dealing with such sensitive matierials.I am just so nervous. does anyone have any advice? Does it help? Will I get sicker? ShouldI take it with food.I know you all are not doctors but sometimes youare better!

also just started opana ER

I have severe back problems along with this wonderful IC. Just started opana ER last week. I don't feel much better! I can take up to 3vicodin a day for break thru pain. This drug (and all of them!) really scares me! I mean...where do we go fom here?

I tried this, i started this post. it did nothing for me. I went on it for the same reason, i felt i was on too much percocets. i went back to the percocets. i am on 10/325 max 6 a day. i tried the oxycontin (i am prob misspelling) 30mg 3xs a day. its an extented relief. 30mg was not enough and i reacted to the dye in the 60mg (caused a flare) so i am back to the 10/325mg. (my insurance would not pay to have me take 2 30mg 3xs a day) you should ask your dr about it. theres no tylenol in it and it does not cause a "high".

Opana ER/ Opana

I have been taking Opana ER for a year or so. I started off on a low dose which wasn't enough because before taking Opana ER I was taking Fentanyl patches (100 mcg). I am on 30 mg of Opana ER currently and the highest you can go to is 40. I do feel like this medication has helped me more than any other medication I have tried. Also, for breakthrough pain I take the immediate release of Opana. I take one tablet a day (as needed) and it is 10 mg. I have tried MS Contin and that didn't help and made me sick but this medication I do really well with. However, it is really expensive! The extended release is more expensive, I think it was like around 500 dollars for 28 tablets, but don't quote me on that. I do NOT get a euphoric feeling taking the extended release tablets. My insurance is changing and now it doesn't cover both of these so I am not sure what I am going to do! Hopefully I can get it authorized so I can continue to take it because I do feel like it helps me. I do feel like it's better that I take an extended release because a few years ago I was taking way to much Vicodin to try to take my pain away. The immediate release tablets just weren't strong enough for my pain. I hope this helps everyone. Good luck!

Wow....isn't it hard to find just the right combo of meds to do the job? The opana ER is knocking me on my butt in the morning! After I take it I feel like a zombie with nausa for a good 2 hours every morning. Not worth it! Going to talk to the PM dr about it at the end of the month. I have less pain with the opana, but it's not worth this! I'd rather go back to my vicodin, 6/day!

Opana ER

Jenn, I am confused about your post. Are you trying to say that Opana ER isn't safe period. Or it isn't safe to take with food? Also, is this your opinion of the medication or have you read information somewhere about Opana ER being unsafe? I understand the second sentence of your post. Could you please clarify this for me? Thanks!

Opana

Thanks for the tip.But I dont think I am going to take it anymore. It has made me So depressed.I think I am having a really bad reaction to it. Also feeling very nausuas and its making me exhuasted.
I really dont know where to go from here.I think I will just go back on my percocets. but what were you saying about taking 30MG of percocet three times a day?I never heard of that.I dont know what he is going to try me on next but OPANA def did not work for me. IT caused me alot of anxiety and I found myself weeping and having "racing" thoughts. Dont I feel miserable enough????

Opana ER

Crushing an extended release tablet such as Opana ER may cause too much of the medication to go into your system, but it's ok if you take Opana ER with food. You may not get the full effect of the medication. I just don't want people to be mistaken and have the wrong impression about a medication and then maybe regret that they didn't try something that could have helped them.
