Sad message about Babs RN

I have been gone for a while and just today learned aboutthe death of Babs. I was sorry to read that news as I remember her from when I first started with the IC network, and remember how supportive and caring about others. I know it is a great loss for her daughter and for all of us who remember her. My heart and thoughts go out to her family and her daughter, she will be greatly missed, Iris

I don't even know what to say, I am in such shock - it just doesn't seem like it can be true! I am just so so sorry for her little girl's loss, her family's loss - our loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to all...

Very sad to hear this... like many of the others she has been missed here and since I know she kept shining her light in all she did I am very sad to hear that her time on Earth has passed.

Zig...There is no reason for you to feel ashamed. She would be pleased to know that you care so much. She has been off the boards for a year. To learn why she left, read Jill's posts about her death.
Sharon, when I tried the link you posted, it gave me this message, "Sorry, no matches. Please try some different terms."

Zig (and others who wish to read some of her past posts), click on "Search" in the navy blue bar above. Then, scroll down to "Advanced Search". Then, under "User name", type Babs RN. You will be able to select if you want to read "Posts by User" or "Threads started by User". Then, if you want to only read her posts right now in a specific catagory, for example "prayer requests", then you check that box. If you just ignore the catagory listing, then it will bring up her last 100 posts. If you wish to read more after that, then, there is a box that will ask you the age of posts you wish to read. For example "1 year ago and older/newer" "6 months ago and older/newer", etc.

For those who STILL want to read more posts, (or want to even read every post she has here, rather than checking the "1 year ago and older" box, you can actually put in a specific date and then mark the box "and older.

You can also look at her profile, note when she first arrived here, (For ex: March 2004). Then, you can put THAT date in, and then mark the box "and newer". That should take you back to her very first post. Then, you will be able to read them in chronological order, should you prefer to do it this way.

The "search" and "advanced search" options are awesome! They are also really helpful if I want find a post that I have written (but cant remember when I wrote it), or if I want to find one that someone else wrote. Then, I just plop in the name and an uncommon word I recall from the post, and BAM! It pulls it right up! (Though often that "uncommon" word is a bit more common than you realize, since you also pulled up 7 or 8 other threads! But, regardless, at least ultimately, you also found what you WERE looking for!

I hope I havent confused you (or anyone else) too much! (The fact is that I am more of a "doer" than an "explainer", so I am not especailly skilled in the explaining dept. Just hope you were able to to understand my scrawl well enough to find what you are looking for!

Take care,
Amararthe

I think out of respect for the family not going would be in the best interest. They may be doing this because Lindsey has Autism, and she will not be able to handle the over whelming loss, much less she isn't going to understand where here mommy has gone, just being a child alone, but with her disability and people that she does not know, large group settings are very hard for children that are Autistic. I am sure that this is the reason for their choice, not to mention Barbs death was a sudden incident. Maybe we can send flowers to show our support.

I don't have words.....there are none...except I think that life is very short and we should darn well remember that in the way we treat each other. No matter what, Barb was my friend, my VERY, VERY GOOD FRIEND and I have not stopped mourning since Leslie called me the other day. I fear for that poor child and pray she has a happy, healthy life as that is all that Barb truly wanted.

There just aren't words..................there just arent

Barbs, RN

I am crying so hard right now. Barbara was the first and only ICN patient I have ever met. My Mother lives in Cocoa, FL and we met at the mall with her beautiful daughter several years ago. She meant the world to me. We would talk on the phone for hours. The last time I talked to her was 5 months ago. She was having a very hard time. I miss her so much! She is an angel still smiling and helping people. I love you Barbara~ May you rest in peace~ God Bless her Family! Someone please let me know how I can get in touch with her family as I want to go to her funeral.

Love Laura

Although,

I was just starting to get to know Barb, and I only wish I had more time, she was AND IS a wonderful, caring, kind, sweet spirited woman. I have had the opporunity to meet many people, and Barb stuck out to me in alot of ways. From what I knew of her, she was a wonderful person. A wonderful part of this world. I say this because it takes a lot to change someone's life and I know that Barb surely did this. I know she was a wonderful daughter, friend, mother and she had the kind of spirit that was forgiving. I suppose when you live a life in constant struggle, you learn to appreciate the small things in life and forget the rest. I believe she had a purpose in this place and as well as in heaven. And I believe that even from where she is now, she will continue to do so. I know that she had a love for what she did and I do know that her daughter was the biggest reason that kept her going. A mother's love never stops. I look at pictures of her and lindsey, and I see it. It takes a special kind of love and patience, when you have an autistic child. I myself, have a little sister close to Lindsey's age who has a form of autism. These children are very special and they relate to the world in their own way, its a beautiful thing...And I can see the sparkle in both their eyes. Your child is your whole world...and it is VERY sad that such a sad event has occurred, but I know that God & Barb will be watching down upon this special, beautiful little girl.

I also know that over the past few years barb became close to two very amazing people. Both people I have befriended, and I know why. Leslie and Christine. My heart goes out to them as well. I believe good things come in threes and that is what they were. As their close friends, I know how much they both loved her, and they knew her very well, maybe more than most. I know that they will hold close to all the great memories and keep her true spirit alive.

As far as services, I really understand the private service. Some families are private people and they want to have their time. I really don't think it has anything to do with lindsey being autistic. And to speculate that is probably not the best route. I only say this because I have personally spoken with leslie and know the reasons, but that is not important. What matters most is that we remember barb and support all who this has affected. I know many of you have had the chance to get to know her and we all should come together at this time.

In ending, i'd just like to say,

Barb will forever live on because she was my IC sister, she stood for everything I believe in, she was there for so many people, even when times got rough. She stuck by her sisters through thick and thin, she never let ignorance in the way. I am happy to call her an IC sister and an IC angel.
