Question What do you do when you need a break from your kids?

How do you cope , what do you do when you need a break from your kids? I'll run away for a little while to the library, or just sit in the quiet of the car and listen to the radio. What do you do??

Enjoy!! Michelle in KC

While locking yourself in the bathroom seemed like the best answer, I picked "other". "Other" being leave 'em with the hubby and GO OUT!!

When I was bring up these two 30 year old's that call me mom and I KNEW they were in trouble and "I" was the problem, I would check myself into a hotel for the night. I would watch what I wanted on the TV. Ate all the junkfood I wanted and didn't have to explain or here the words "But MOM" for a night and the next day I was always able to handle what ever was thrown at me.

When they were babies and the first husband started finishing the basement the room he started on was the bathroom because it was going to have a key lock on it and I was going to be the ONLY one with a key sooooooooooooooooooooo, if you ever re-do a bathroom, do it exactly to what pleases you and no one else because you might need to find refuge in it someday

Your post did make me smile because I have a 9 months old grandson who doesn't have a clue who I am. I'd give ANYTHING to beable to spend alone time with him. ANYTHING!!!!!! My A.H. son doesn't have a the selfish snob.

I don't have kids, but my sister had four in four years (two of them less than 1 year apart). Every so often she would totally disappear and her husband would call me and tell me that he couldn't find her and ask me to babysit for a day or two. My sister used to find a friend to stay with and cover for her when she was on the verge of losing her sanity. That is NOT to say that I recommend this...

I try to find an activity that the two of them will get really involved in - toys they haven't played with in awhile, a video, etc. Then I go to my bedroom and chill. I have been known to call my own mom and say "Help!!!!!!!" and she comes over to give me a break.

Diagnosed August 2001

Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Lexapro (since 2003 for depression & anxiety, but also helps my IC)

Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)

My IC story: http://www.ic-network.com/patientstories/kim.html It's very outdated now. I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for several years now.

Well I only have one (13 months). He's not old enough to back-talk yet. But he sure is whiney at times. My husband usually gives me a break. He even says I deserve it since I'm at home with him all the time.
For V. Day he gave me a gift cert. to a day spa for manicure/massage. I plan on going for the manicure first. Then at a later date, the massage.
I'm going to milk this one for all it's worth. wink

My kids are 2 and 3 and whenever i feel ive had en9ough and my husband usually can tell this, i just have to grin and bear it. Once i sat in my chair with this really weird look on my face after my daughter mistook diper rash cream for baby lothin and smeared it on her self. After i gave her a bath, i sat down in my chair and just looked like i was completely drained. Selena, my daughter came up to me and asked whats wrong and i quietly replied that i was on vacation..... mommy is not here. shes gone to bermuda.... she looked at me and said ok mommy. see you later. tylenol helps too.. lol
