Rhonda, you go and have a good time, buy those pads that they are talking about on here, just go to the bathroom with your kids, you have a medical issue. I hope this helps you some.

Maybe you could speak with a teacher or administrator you trust and explain your situation. If nothing else, is there a gas station nearby you could scoot over to if the urge hits?

Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Lexapro (since 2003 for depression & anxiety, but also helps my IC)

Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)

My IC story: http://www.ic-network.com/patientstories/kim.html It's very outdated now. I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for several years now.

I just hate that. OK, I worked last year as an aide at the school. All you need to do is call and explain that you would like to come and enjoy Field Day with your children. Also, INFORM them, don't ask them, that you will need access to the ladies room at any given moment. It all comes back to the Disability act. They have to grant you access to the restroom. Besides, what if a kid has to pee?? Are they going to tell them no? You'll no doubt have a visitors badge and be checked in at the office. So there should be no problem identifying you as someone that should be there. GOod Luck! Field day is so fun/crazy/ and a little stressful. But it's only one day! Michelle in KC

Hi Rhonda! I would definitely talk to your child's teacher or the principal and explain your situation. I'm a teacher, and I know that the school washrooms are not for public use (there legal issues as well), but perhaps they would make an exception for you. I know if a parent approached me and explained the situation, I wouldn't think twice about welcoming you on the field trip and into the school

Take care,
Alexa

If maybe your embarrassed by having to talk to the teachers and everything about your situation I would just (like someone else said) run over to a gas station or store nearby. How far is it to your house. You can do that too.

I feel they have no right to deny anyone access to the bathroom. I know when I go to plays or recitals for my neices and nephews, they are at schools and the bathrooms are always open to the public. If it vary state to state. but In Ma, if I have to pee, I will go intoa bathroom or resturant or a store that I know the people and they know me like at cvs and theywill let me in. It is a shame there not more public bathrooms out there. I gues you hit me on a sore subject. sorry. Hang in there.
