Angry HEY! How about Grandma's with IC???????

We, alot of us anyways, are missing sooooooooo much our young grandchildren have to teach us because of this stinkin' disease! Tonight I realized that I can no longer pick up the 2 year old and olders and that SUCKS. Every holiday I see how much my disease has progressed from one year to the next and I hate it with a passion. I am SO tired of this disease stealing from me. It never asks permission, it just takes and takes and takes. And, it never gives back.

I know that I can not possibly be the only grandparent with IC who has watched their involvement with thier babies change so drastically from year to year Thank God for my husband today because without all of his help, I would have locked myself in my car and refused to come out. I'm just loosing too much life to IC and it's life that I will never get back

Teri,

Oh how I understand what you are saying! I just love my granddaughter so much. Her name is Hannah Grace and she will be one in December. She is such a joy.

I can really tell the difference from when she was first born until now. Of course, she is much more active and a lot bigger so that is a factor. But until I am on my death bed I will continue to keep her as often as I can. Which isn't very much. Her parents (my son) have only started letting her stay over night with her grandparents on both sides. They just wanted her home every night. I could keep her during the day but not overnight. Same with the other set of gparents too.

I am not ready to give that up. I'm only 46 and even though I know I am going to suffer the next day it is so worth it to me. I just pop a couple of those pain pills and go on. lol I have found a combination of things that help me so that I get the relief I need without being in that "haze" that many drugs give you.

There have been only a few times that I have been severe pain or pain that escalates after carrying Hannah around. I can at least make a pallet on the floor and we play there. Now when she starts to walk it may be another story.

I'm so sorry, Teri, that you have to have so much pain that it interfers with your grandkids. It's such a wonderful time in our lives.
