I remember reading on the boards about a product called yeast arrest.....

Hi! I responded, actually, to someone who posted about a product called "yeast arrest". I had asked what it was. Well, I found it... just plain boric acid and calendula to acidify the vagina. My ob/gyn said boric acid balances the ph level. I was looking for anyone who had tried the product. Any feedback? thanks, liz

I believe Boric acid is IC friendly if that is your worry. I'll look for more info.

YEAST LIST: Boric Acid, Aci-gel (insert it at night, it maintains the ph of the vagina & yeast can't live when there's an acidic environment - or can use apple cider vinegar in water TAKE CAUSION IF YOUR URETHRA IS SENSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!) and also washing externally with tea-tree oil diluted in water. \acidopholous tablets, a wet towel with s AZO yeast, http://www.ghtbiz.net/rescue/nocandida/lead.html, Any probotics, Flora-Q The Flora-Q is made by Kenwood Therapeutics. It contains Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus paracasel, and Streptococcus thermophilus -- these are all bacteria that normally live inside your digestive tract. What you do is take a capsule a day for a few days during antibiotic treatment and then a couple afterwards, and this replaces your normal flora, making it much less likely to to get yeast infections. http://www.ic-network.com/iclifestyles/july01.html list of ideas (Nystatin, Diflucan by prescription.) For oral thrush that keeps coming back: change your tooth brush
For the yeast infection that won't go away: Make sure it is a yeast infection, get a culture done maybe your doctor can find out what medicine your yeast will respond to. Look into possible hormone problems if you are post metapousal. THREELAC or other probotics that are different than the capsul or oral ....probotics come in many kinds and if simple kids don't work out there are other options.
Boric Acid is the first thing listed on my list....I am certain before I put it there that I asked about its name and I would not have put it here if I didn't believe it was IC friendly for most of us...sorry I haven't had the time to look for more info yet.

Thanks Katrina! I used to use boric acid years ago, but it's messy to make your own tablets. This product already contains the boric acid plus calendula( anti inflammatory) and grape seed oil (lubrication). I sure do remember someone metioning yeast arrest because I had asked what it was... Thanks. liz

Curlycue, the actual product is called "yeast arrest". It was recommended by a holisitic doctor. It contains boric acid, grapeseed oil (lubricant) and calendula (anti inflammatory). It is used to make the vagina more acidic so as not to promote yeast overgrowth and get fungal infections. I was just curious if anyone had used it, and I'm sure I saw it here on the posts somewhere. I know I can used plain boric acid capsules that I make myself, but this sounds much easier. liz

Liznazz,
Ouch I remember tyring the home made boric acid capsules and boy did it burn the heck out of me! It caused me to flare more and I was irritated and swollen for days!
I am on a prophylactic dose of Nystatin Vag tablets. use them at least twice a week while I am trying to get my leaky gut and candida under contol through probiotics and other supplements.

I have to say that I've been using the "yeast arrest" all week and it has helped the itchy-burning feeling subside. It is very gentle and I have no inflammation or burning with it at all. I had my annual with the gyno a few days ago and he gave the o.k. It is a good, gentle product. I know when you hear "boric acid" you think flesh eating acid!! Not so.... it makes the vaginal ph acidic so that yeast does not flourish. In case anyone is interested, I found it online by TAO of Herbs. If you type in "yeast arrest" on google, it brings you right to it. liz

Thanks for the info liz. I will check it out. It doesn't sound as irritating the way you describe it. I am glad it is giving you relief! Is it in capsule form or is it a gel. I guess you need something to stay in there for a while to get it to keep the ph constant.
