Lost and confused

Hi everyone,
Where to begin! I have gone through a series of pelvic strep infections and some really bad but not strep bladder infections. It took a long time to get rid of it but I did. My doc always prescribed 2 or 3 diflucan for every 10 day treament. I have discovered that the diflucan all by itself helps SO much! I have had a few yeast infections but I never have any symptoms until it gets so bad I end up at the gyn. I would really like to try diflucan proflicatively(SP?) and was wondering if anyone else did this or found it helpful? I am in the flare from hell after being off almost all my massive pain meds! If anyone has any ideas please, please let me know. Thanks and hugs to you all--Malone

Malone, many have taken Diflucan to prevent that yeast infection...I did quite a while taking 100 mg a day...it was great at first but wasn't enough after a while and after that my doctor was not happy with some of my test results (it isn't a med that is very healthy to take long term) I still take it when I notice those symptoms of a yeast infection but almost everyone that I have talked to that took Difulcan for a period of time to prevent the yeast infections eventually stops and sometimes it is because of the risks of dammage to I believe liver. I am a bit confussed with your post...right now do you have difficulty with a yeast infection? Is it causing a major flare...do you have a UTI too? What did your doctor precribe the Diflucan for before...can that treat pelvic strep infections?? I thought that was bacterial?

http://www.ic-network.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7562 this is thread of pain relief the second page has attachments I believe the last attachment is the list of pain relief ideas.

YEAST LIST: Boric Acid, Aci-gel (insert it at night, it maintains the ph of the vagina & yeast can't live when there's an acidic environment - or can use apple cider vinegar in water TAKE CAUSION IF YOUR URETHRA IS SENSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!) and also washing externally with tea-tree oil diluted in water. \acidopholous tablets, a wet towel with s AZO yeast, http://www.ghtbiz.net/rescue/nocandida/lead.html, Any probotics, Flora-Q The Flora-Q is made by Kenwood Therapeutics. It contains Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus paracasel, and Streptococcus thermophilus -- these are all bacteria that normally live inside your digestive tract. What you do is take a capsule a day for a few days during antibiotic treatment and then a couple afterwards, and this replaces your normal flora, making it much less likely to to get yeast infections. http://www.ic-network.com/iclifestyles/july01.html list of ideas (Nystatin, Diflucan by prescription.) For oral thrush that keeps coming back: change your tooth brush
