New Yeast Remedy
A new natural product from Japan called THREELAC which contains three types of lactobacillis in a new delivery system which does not act until it gets past the stomach and into the intestines has hit the US market. It is supposed to be the strongest natural product out there.
I have some on order and hope to get it this week. Problem with probiotics from the health food store is they get as far as the stomach acid and dont get into the intestines.
Yeast can get into the cells of the vulva and bladder wall and cause inflammation and UT symptoms. I had a stool test for bacteria and yeast and I definatley have a yeast overgrowth which explains why I keep getting the infection back, especially when progesterone is high like before a period.
Anyway thought I would pass this new product on.
Oh, and by the way natural cold pressed coconut oil is a natural fungus fighter and great lubricant. A lady told me she used it during sex and after peeing to protect the vulvar area.

I haven't had a yeast infection for many years. When I did have one, my physician ordered medications to get rid of it --- and retested after a time to be certain it was gone.

Threelac is a maintenance thing
Donna:
Yes that is the standard medical protocol for yeast: wet prep, Diflucan, retest. Problem is those of us who are suseptible get it back, and back, and back. This is because it gets into the intestine and into the cells around the vulva and resurfaces with any imbalance of flora. Especially true during high progesterone times of period, or lack of estrogen as in menopause.
Anyway the alternative menthod is to try to repopulate the body with good bacteria the lactobacillis and two more I forget, to keep the candida from growing out of control during times of stress. The Threelac is one of the first products strong enough and with a delivery system that dont give out in the stomach and does reach the intestines.
One of the worst IC flares I ever had was started by a yeast infection which I swear went into the bladder.

Threelac
Threelac is available now, just put the name into a search engine and it will turn up a number of vendors. Some are cheaper than others.

Sammie, I was wondering if you had tried the Threelac yet? I've heard a lot of good things about it, but wondered how someone with IC does on it? Thanks! Grace

Yeast infections
I'm with Donna, I haven't had one in many, many years. I use acidophilus & other probiotics daily and ever since I started using them I haven't had an issue it's been really nice. When I took the bcp, I had them consistently..I HATED it!!
I've also been good about cutting down the amount of sugar that I have that has been helping as well.
