Yeast culture is neg!
I took Nystatin tabs for a week and they helped the painful yeast problem I was having. 5 days after stopping the pain returned with the same light white discharge. I called the dr and he siad to take anothe rweek on the Nystatin tabs as wee only did a one week cure intitially and it usually a 2 week cure. He thought we could knock it out in one week since when he did the exam he only saw a small amount of it.
anyway, I called his office again and was told that the culture results for the yeast were neg! Does anyone know how accurate these are?
I know that there is normally a small amount of yeat in the vag. Could it be that although they saw some yeast they considered it neg? Even the smallest amount of yeast will cause horrible symptoms for me. I guess IC bladders are more sensitive to theri environment.
does anyone have any similar experience with this?
This second round of Nystatin has helped the swelling and pelvic pain since the second day of taking it........hmmmmmmmm
I'm pretty sure it's yeast sa I get problems with my gut and fingernails when the canedida flares up.....and that has been happening since all the gyn yeast started.
I'm taking all the necessary precatutions in addition to the Nystatin so hopefully I will get some sort of balance soon!

I recommend you Private Message Babs RN with some of your questions. I have had times when I was sure I had oral thrush and the doc saw what seemed like a lot but it wasn't yeast at all according to the lab. It turned out to help turn me in the right direction to what was really wrong.
I wish I could help more.

It seems that whatever is going on is flairing up again! today it is burning and titching all over again. My pelivic are is tender too! I guess some is the normal IC pain but this burning and itching is now getting me worried. I forgot to take my nystatin vag tab last night but today a lot of the nystatin discharge is coming out. It never burned me before. it really doesn't have a lot of other stuff in it. i don't know what is going on . i know this candida is tough to beat but I am still doing all the mentioned precautions except taking the diflucan. (it makes me dizzy and gives me weird side effects). The diflucan alone never killed the yeast......so I'm not sure what good it really does me.OK..enough babbling...gotta try to figure this out!
katrina, i will try to email the person that you suggested.
thanks
