Well ICers are often more ulnerable to yeast infections than the general public. Is there a relationship? Maybe...possibly in our immune system.
If you long term antibiotic therapy I would say that is the main cause of the yeast infections. Usually if on a antibiotic ( espeicially long term) you should do something to prevent the yeast infections such as taking probotics (friendly bacteria).
I hope that helps you. I always adicophilus and sometimes AZO yeast if I get symptoms.
Best of luck with your pregnancy!!!!

Yes, I would think the antibiotic marobid you are on to keep a UTI away could be the reason behind your yeast infection. A lot of people take a yeast med like Diflucan at the same time as an antibiotic.

One of the unfortunate things about antibiotics is that they can kill off the "good" bacteria along with the bad. It's not uncommon to get a yeast infection when on antibiotics. I do think it would be a good idea to discuss this with your doctor.

Whenever I had a yeast infection my IC would flare like crazy. I don't think yeast CAUSES IC, but it sure aggravates it for many of us.

Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Lexapro (since 2003 for depression & anxiety, but also helps my IC)
Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)
My IC story: http://www.ic-network.com/patientstories/kim.html It's very outdated now. I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for several years now.

I aslways seem to have a lingering yeast infection...But...when it gets to be too much the IC flares up big time! the pelvic pain becmoes unbearable. time to pull out all the yeast stops!
Nystatin tablets, lots of yogurt (plain) and acidophilus help to get itunder control. I normally watch my starch, carb, sugar intake anyway.....but sometimes it just creeps up.
