Mikaela,
Have u ever had a cystoscopy done yet? People from the states that leave me messages tell me that they hook u up to iv and give u anestetic to put u to sleep to do this procedure, but at the hospital out in alberta here the outpatient department/er told me that they might give me something to relax me. Is she right or do they put u on iv and give u anistetic to put u to sleep here in canada.

Hi
I know your post was addressed to Michaela but thought I would reply.. I had my cysto/hydro done at hospital and I was put under for it.. My Uro said it be too painful to do it without.. but I think if you were just having the cysto it can be done without..

A cystoscopy where the doctor just looks at your bladder and does not do the hydrodistention or take biopsies --- can be done without anesthesia. It feels about the same as having a catheter inserted and is over in about five minutes or less.

Hi Mikaela,
Welcome! I've had IC for about 5 years now...
There's also a Canada IC board if you'd like to chat with other Canadians who also have IC:

Happy Friday
