Anbiotics normally help IC if they do anything. Yeast infections cause flares in many of us and yes antibiotics do make us more vulnerable to getting a yeast infection. Still since we do not know the cause of IC we can only say what things seem to bother our IC...which is very individual and at this point can be almost anything. It is most likely that the yeast infections helped to cause a flare in you....but that IC already existed in you mildly and un noticeable.

I hope that helps.

To my knowledge Ic does not come and go, you may have days you feel better but in the background it is there.

i also wonder if bacteria from a public jacuzzi had anything to do w/ it. the first time i had IC i started using one at the gym. it went away for four or five years and came back when i started using one at my complex. those things can get a lot of bacteria in them over the weekend when they aren't cleaned! i'm never using one again. i'll buy my own!

Interstitial cystitis (IC) is not something we get more than once. When you have IC, you have it for the rest of your life. Symptoms may come and go, but if you have it, it stays with you. Your reference to "the first time" you had IC suggests that you may think infection is IC. It is not.

Non the less Donna is right in saying that if you have IC you always have it even if you go into remission. None the less there are many things that can cause flares. If you can tell what has caused your avoiding those things is the best thing you can do.
