Unhappy Yeast AGAIN

Well, I just got through another bout with thrush, and my uro prescribed Diflucan (take one a week for three weeks). Things were going well, until I had the beginnings of a UTI recently and took antibiotics.

Now I have a vaginal yeast infection -- I used a Monistat 1 pack last night and man, it seems to be working on the yeast but it sure made my IC worse!!!!! My bladder hurts and the whole outside of my genitals, from clitoris to anus, BURNS.... I'm not used to this, as burning is not a major symptom of IC for me. I do get occasional burning with urination (at the start of urination when the stream passes my bladder neck) or a burning deeper in my bladder if I've eaten a no-no food, but normally I have cramping, heaviness, and sharp pains in the bladder as my predominant symptom (in addition to frequency/urgency).

I've been using a cold pack all day off and on. It is beginning to get better, but I think next time I'm calling the doc and getting Diflucan again. I'm not sure I want to go thru this Monistat reaction again....

Sorry to hear your not well Jen I don't burning very often either...but one of the things that causes burning for me is a yeast infection. Hope the Diflucan works really fast!

Oh Jen...how I understand about the burning. Remember my story about the soda can while in California?

I am sorry to hear you having such a rough time. I am having a little bit of itching and burning on the outside also probably due to the anti's I am taking for my uti. I hope mine doesn't get real bad. I hope you start feeling better soon.

I had the same thing happen with the Monistat ovule. I woke up in the middle of the night when it melted--- felt like I'd sat on an anthill... Rinsed like crazy, & sat on a gel icepack, but burned for a good day & a half afterwards. (At least it did get rid of the yeast inf. but yowww!).
Sorry.
Hope you feel better soon!

This week's favorite one-liner:
"I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by...

New second favorite:
"And which dwarf are you?."

Adding a third because I'm just so darn easily amused...
"Eagles may soar, but weasels aren't sucked into jet engines."

Current treatments:
-IC diet
-Elavil 20mg at night
-Ditropan 5mg at night
-Continuous use birth control pills (4-5 periods/year)
-Heparin/Marcaine/Sodium Bicarb home instills every night & sometimes in the morning also
-Pyridium if needed, usually once a week or so
-1 Darvocet at bedtime,
-Flexeril 10mg at bedtime
-Dye Free Benadryl for allergies occasionally
-Pelvic floor & myofascial release (external only) physical therapy for 8 weeks, then home exercise program...
-Managing stress
-Fur therapy: Hugging the cat!

I can't use Monistat or any cream. I don't know if I'm allergic or extremely sensitive, but it burns like he!!
Diflucan helps. I get thrush & yeast infections too. I also eat yogurt and occasionally take the Acidophillus pills (especially if I'm taking antibiotics).

I have the same reaction to monistat and similar creams. In fact, last time I even called my mother (she doens't have IC but has had her share of yeast infections in her day) and she said it always burned for her as well. Not fun! Hope you are feeling better!

I think the next if I get a yeast infection hoping I don't. I will go with difuclan again. about a year ago when I had yest infection it helped me. and I didn't have the burning like I do now. I just did another treatment I am on fire. Do you think I should call my gyn and tell her that it burns me?

http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/vulvodynia.html I do recommend telling your doctor. I also recommend that you look into the possibility of having Vulvodynia.
