flaring on Bactrim
Help! My doctor put me on Bactrim, think I'm flaring. Does anyone else flare on this medication? I put a call to the doctor but the office is closed. Will be calling his office as soon as its open.

I hope you feel better soon. So many of us find one antibiotic or another makes us flare. Sometimes, one IC'er will flare with one antibiotic, while another IC'er will do just fine on the same antibiotic. It's such a mystery! I often hear of IC'ers flaring from one antibiotic or another, or even from one regular medicine or another. So you aren't crazy, it could very well be causing you to flare! Sometimes we switch to a different antibiotic, or sometimes we just tough it out until we don't have to take the antibiotic anymore.
Blessings, Lori

I haven't taken the med...but definatly feel anything can make us flare. If it helps most of ...it still can hurt someone else....we are a sensitive group...epspecially our bladders. I recommend you put this medication on a list of possible causes of a flare. Definatly tell your doctor! Why did you start this antibiotic? If it is because of a uti the uti could be the cause of your flare. If you were tested for a uti was a culture done? Maybe you need a different antibiotic. If it is for another reason such as you are sick with something...that may be the cause of your flare too...whenever I get sick my symptoms increase a bit. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for your responses! I was put on this medicine for a resp. infection- that I had for over a month. (I was on 2 other meds that didn't work so the doctor put me on this one.) I was tested for a uti but I didn't have one. The doctor said they didn't think it was the medicine that was giving me the problem, but I think otherwise, as I'm feeling much better, and yes, I will definintely tell the doctor that this med. is a no-no.
