Does anyone flare on Sulfa drugs?
I went to dr last week, and had another bladder infection (2nd in 30 day period). This time she prescribed a sulfa drug, and I wasn't feeling any better until today. I stopped taking them yesterday. Do you think this a reaction to the sulfa or just a coincidence?
Thanks in advance-
Susan

sulpa antibiotic
I am allergic to sulpha but I have been on other antibiotics and they can make you feel sick. Some need to be taken with food others are okay on their own. I have a pill book now and it really helps tell me the side affects. I also phone my pharmacist and they often know more than the doctors on side effects. Good luck and I hope you find an answer.

When I get an infection it makes the IC so much worse. It will probably take some time to calm down.

That is definatly hard to say...I recommend putting this med on a list of possible flare triggers for you. Ginny is definatly right....infections have often made me flare...and even after the infection was gone I have sometimes needed time for bladder to heal from the dammage from the infection.
It is often a good idea for everyone with IC to get tested for things we are allergic too... and if you can to bring in some specifics. That may help. Hope you feel better soon!!!!!!!!!!

Sulfa meds work for me most of the time. It usually takes 3 days to feel better once you start antibiotics. If you stopped it the day before it was prob still in your system and it was statrin to work. Did your dr do a C&S? Im sorry you weren't feeling well , How are you feeling now?
With love ,Lee

Thanks to all, I am feeling better. I started the sulfa last Friday, and as I said, this was my 2nd infection in 4 weeks. By last Sunday I was feeling better, than started to feel worse-in fact by Tuesday, I felt worse than I did when I first went into dr. Now that I am off the meds, I do feel better. The dr. prescribed extra sulfa in case I have another infection, so if that happens I will defintely pay attention to see if it affects me the same way. Thanks again to all the replies.
