Took Benadryl Allergy and frequency stopped but still have lower back pain
I have not been diagnosed with IC, but have problems with frequency and urgency. I have lower back pain and have a pinch nerve in the L5 region which does effect the baldder. Nonetheless, I took a Benadryl Allergy around 10AM, slept until 4pm and the urgency/frequency has stopped. I have a PDR at home (because I am in the medical field, not because I am a hypocondriac) and I read that it has anesthetic action "which prevent initiation and transmission of never impulses." Because I responded to Benadryl does it mean that I have IC or could it be that the problems with my lower back is causing the urgency. Am I grasping at straws?

You really need to be seeing your physician about your symptoms. There are many things that could cause low back pain --- and you really should find out more definitely what's going on with your bladder.
For information about symptoms and diagnosis, you can go to http://www.ic-network.com/handbook
Warm healing thoughts,

Benadryl tonight
Donna,
I am definetly seeing a doctor, but wanted to know if the Benadryl is helpful. I read that IC suffers take antihistamines (sp?) too relieve symptoms. I am going to the chiropractor tomorrow (regular appointment). I don't have any fever, so I don't think it is the kidneys. I do think there is a connection with my L5 pinch nerve and my bladder. Thank you again for your reply.

Hi -
I was so frustrated yesterday I went to the drug store and got Benadryl.
/It is on the list of meds helping with symptoms of IC/
I took one 0.25mg about 4PM yesterday and then another one at 10 PM.
After first pill about 1 hour later there was no pressure on my bladder, no going to the bathroom all the time. I have felt like my old me again.
Today, is about 7:30 AM Tuesday, I took Benadryl again.
Will let you know what is going on.
If all it takes to feel normal again is to take Benadryl that would be great
news to me.
Anna
