The love of Cats

Something I've noticed on the IC boards, is the many times I see cats mentioned or pictures used. I for one, could not live without my two cats!
Seems like there is alot of us who have one or more cats in our lives.
I have an allergy to my long hair one (himalayan), is it possible that this allergy could be one of the reasons for IC?
Anybody else have allergies to their cats?

Hi
I am a cat lover too.. I certainly hope that it does not bother ic.. I had an allergy to cats for years and years but I think it may have been something that cats that went outside got into.....I have two cats now that are indoor cats..but they do go out on leashes sometimes.. I can get weepy eyes and sneezing.. but very seldom..
I would be lost without my cats..
Sure hope it does not make IC worse..but good question.

well, i lived with a cat all my life but didn't develop ic till i moved out and got away from her!!

so probably not. we could look for causes in all kinds of places. personally i think our furry friends (or scaley friends, or feathered friends) help us to feel better most of the time, not worse.

Hi joanne I has two cats and I have had cats most of my life. Things haven't been the same for them since I've had kids but I don't think my IC is from them. I hate to say it but if it was I hope they would like their new owner as much as me!!! haha

I have a new kitten, 4 months old now. Never had a cat in my life, always a dog lover. That being said, I grew up on a farm so we had cats in the barn but never one in the house.

I love her to pieces, she drives my dog nutso, rips around the house like a mad man. Give her some catnip....look out. When she was little she got a can of Pounce cat treats opened and ate I don't know how many. I actually think she was stoned from all the catnip. She didn't move for over two days. After all was said and done we laughed but at the time I was quite concerned. The Pounce is now in the cupboard where she can't get it lol

Ultimate cat lover here...we have 7 cat kids....all shelter rescues except one. But I have a mini petting zoo...lol. 2 dogs. 1 rat. 1 snake. 1 baby squirrel. And lets now forget the Racoon family that we are feeding right now. But out of all the animals, the cats will always be my babies and I love em to death (except when they think they should make "bread" on my stomach...ouchie...)

Cat lover

I'm a big cat lover! I got my first cat in 1996 and was diagnosed with IC in 2002. I started noticing symptoms around 1998 or so. You have my attention. I know I'm allergic to cats....I hope there is not a connection...I have 3 cats I adore!...But it defiantly makes me wonder
