no freaking bathroom at work today!
Well, I am at work – which I am proud of because I know there are a lot of people out there with IC who can'twork. I go to go to the bathroom and it says out of order. So I go to my editor and tell him unless I can use the guys washroom I have to go home. I guess the water main for the entire street has been shut off so I can't even go across the road. SO I had to go home to pee and my boss (who is really crabby today) said Ihave to come back. SO I am back and in exactly 45 minutes I willhave to get in my car again to go pee. THis is so stupid, he knows I have this disease and need access to a washroom. I have no sick days left and can't afford to take a day off because it would be without pay (crappy reporter pay that is). Has this ever happened to anyone else?

i hear you on the "no facilities". My boyfriend and I are in the midst of renovating a 85 yr old farm house. Completely gutted and redoing the inside, going on 13 months now. Now you would think that the first thing on the agenda would be washroom facilities. nope, nothing. I was constantly running to my parents (they live next door) to potty. Isn't it frustrating. Yes I'm a farm girl and yes we have a barn but I have my limits.
As for your situation, ok, employeer, people have to potty !!! I can't believe that they expect you to work under those circumstances. That is horrible. That just plain isn't right, I just can't believe this. No compassion anymore in the workplace.

well the bathrooms are working again so that is good. They are doing some work on the road here so they shut off the water main. But my publisher (aka 'The BIg Boss') never bothered to make an annoucement so when I had to pee I discovered it was shut off.

I've had this happen before too. Luckily where I worked it was located on the main street where all the fastfood, department stores, and various other businesses were located. So I just popped myself into one of their restrooms.
I know it's getting tiresome to have to go all the way home everytime you have to go. Are you at least getting paid while you are out? Cause that is the least they could do for this inconvienance. I hope the rest of your day goes by quickly!

Yes, last Friday the faculty bathrooms all backed up at school. I had to hike across campus to a restroom not on that sewage line. Luckily it happened during the parts of the day where I have long enough breaks (lunch & my preparation period) that I could make the hike. When it's happened in the 10min morning break they've had to send a security guard to open my classroom & get the kids inside while I made the hike.
VERY FRUSTRATING... Fortunately, they had it fixed today.... (for now...sigh...)

This week's favorite one-liner:
"I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by...
New second favorite:
"And which dwarf are you?."
Adding a third because I'm just so darn easily amused...
"Eagles may soar, but weasels aren't sucked into jet engines."
Current treatments:
-IC diet
-Elavil 20mg at night
-Ditropan 5mg at night
-Continuous use birth control pills (4-5 periods/year)
-Heparin/Marcaine/Sodium Bicarb home instills every night & sometimes in the morning also
-Pyridium if needed, usually once a week or so
-1 Darvocet at bedtime,
-Flexeril 10mg at bedtime
-Dye Free Benadryl for allergies occasionally
-Pelvic floor & myofascial release (external only) physical therapy for 8 weeks, then home exercise program...
