Yeast Infection Medication- flares

Hello and happy holidays-

Has anyone else had problems with bladder irritability when using mediacations for yeast infections? My bladder seems to spasm about 5 minutes after I insert the medication.

Thanks,
Traci

Thanks. Yes, I used to take Diflucon. But, the doctor say's that this is a very risistant type. I just had surgery 3 weeks ago, so that might be the problem also.

Thanks,

Here are some more ideas:
YEAST LIST: Boric Acid, Aci-gel (insert it at night, it maintains the ph of the vagina & yeast can't live when there's an acidic environment - or can use apple cider vinegar in water) and also washing externally with tea-tree oil diluted in water. I also used acidopholous tablets (inserted at night) plus taking high amounts orally. This works every time for me and now the yeast is a thing of the past. If I ever feel the itch starting, I use a wet towel with some tea-tree oil neat on it, to wipe around the anus and vulva, it stings a bit but it definitely works. AZO yeast, http://www.ghtbiz.net/rescue/nocandida/lead.html

Thanks. So, Aci-Gel is the Boric Acid mix? Can I get this at a health food store? Do you do this every night?

Thanks,

Hi Traci, looks like my copying and pasting sent up before I edited it....I had taken that info from someone else's post a long time ago....so it isn't me who does that. Rosebud acutually said that. Anyway no I don't think aci gel is boric acid mix and I don't do it everynight but Rosebud said she does. I don't know how to get it sorry. I often make lists all the time and take stuff from others....sorry to confuse you.

All internal yeast medications, cause me to flare too!!!!! I could just scream it hurts so bad!!
Seems like the Diflucan also increases my burning. But just suffer when I have too! It's works well!
I can't even stand tea tree directly on my skin. So puts some of the oil in a warm bath. I take acidophulus everyday. A powder and drink it!!
It can also be used internally, in a douche or mixed in plain yogurt!!
Also cut out sugar as much as possible! This is the hardest part with a limited diet!Good Luck! How your feeling better soon!

I tried Boric Acid and Tea Tree oil. They caused a major flare. Two days after I stopped using them (I couldn't sleep they caused my bladder to spasm so much), everything cleared up. Well, almost..... it seems that I had yeast in my urine culture. It really hurts to pee. So, I'm on Diflucan. I'm sure this med. will work for me. Thanks for all the information!

Another idea

My physical therapist has asked that I eat at least one Danactive yogurt daily whenever I take antibiotics. She says it has live culture in it plus other another ingredient that is helpful to fight yeast infections.

yeast infection/uti

This is driving me nuts, i am being treated with my 2nd round of antibodics for a uti and I still have burning when I urinate and burning just all the time.
I also got a prescription for Diflucan and have taken it also, and still the intense burning with a little bit of a itch. Is that what it means to flare(that what I thought it was) it is so uncomfortable and it been going on for 2 weeks since my surg(cysto/hydro). Also do you think drinking tap water could cause a flare up we moved 7months ago to a new town and I drink at least
8 8oz glasses of water a day. One more question how do you start a new thread I can't figure it out.

I'm so glad to see this post here. I've had a bad week. Flaring-- Possibly from the Prednisone I had to take last weekend for a bad rash. Then possibly from the yeast infection I got next. Then possibly from the Diflucan I had to take for the yeast infection. Had to stay home from work today on Pyridium & Darvocet. I didn't even realize how much pain I'd been in til the Darvocet kicked in and I wasn't in pain anymore. Sigh.

Of course now it's worn off & I feel crummy again. Don't know what to do, except drink water & hope this is all side effect related. I don't think I have a UTI - haven't had one in 30 years.

I was told that many people have to take Diflucan twice for a bad yeast infection. You take it once and then again three days later. (Everyone is different though and I'm sure opinions vary on this) Maybe it would be a good idea to be watchful for any discharge or itching that would indicate that a yeast infection is still there and get re-tested quickly. Apparently you have to be ultra diligent when it comes to yeast infection and/or UTI because this stuff is brutally painful for us. Constipation is bad too. It seems like everything I eat is to prevent UTI or yeast now: cranberry juice/water/yogurt. (I can have cranberry...many folks with these problems can't touch it) I have found that my current yeast infection re-activated my pelvic pain and I'm very upset about it. Also, my physical therapist who treats many, many folks with IC and/or pelvic pain problems some of whom have issues with bladder infections says that eating the yogurt with live cultures regularly (She likes the DanActive brand by Dannon) does help a little and every little bit counts. There is another thread here where some folks suggest taking Citiracal (calcium) for other help in the area in terms of pain (the recommended dosage would be good for us all I'm sure). Icing the area can be helpful as well. If you scroll to the bottom, you will see a box called Similar Threads and you can see what other people have had to say about yeast infections. Best of luck. I know for me this has been really hard and I am very frustrated. Hang in there. Prayers for us both.
p.s. Many people here recommend bottled water only. I have heard folks who are very chronic particularly like Evian.

I have to take 4 pills of Diflucan practically every month.
No one can figure out why. I've tried everything under the sun. I feel like a freak of nature of something!

Diflucan is the only thing that works, and that doesn't cause a flare up.

My problem is, is that my insurance won't cover 4 pills every month. It only covers one. The others I pay full price for. Fun times.

Do I have awful insurance, or is this just how things go?
