Antibiotics by IV???

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone else can't seem to get relief from oral antibiotics, and has had them thru IV?

I been on soooo many different antibiotics for this persistent infection that said I grew "mixed" organisms and whenever they give me an antibiotic, it makes it worse, and I can't pee. SO..... I end up stopping the antibiotics.

Is this why my infection hasn't gone away and keeps coming back in a vengeance to make me worse?

I was thinking of going to get an IV put in so I could just get this infection gone. I can't seem to tolerate pills long enough for them to work. Has anyone else had an IV to get rid of an infection, and if so, did it work well?

I wonder if this is a good option for me? Could someone advise or give suggestions?? I'm miserable, and just want to pee......ughhhhh

Thank you,

Dee

What really helped me was getting an antibiotic solution directly instilled into my bladder by cathetar. It contained a mixture of things, such as: sodium bicarbonate, herapin, and gentamicine (spelling an antibiotic). For some crazy reason, I was getting far too many infections and even taking oral antibiotics wasn't getting it. This solution helped me tremedously.

if you start an anti. and don't finish it your body can grow resist to the anti you was on then it want help.
normally a i.v anti is the last step a doctor will take. it wasn't three to four weeks ago i had an iv in my arm that was moved to my hand i did my own iv anti at home, but was trained to do so by a nurseing staff.
Also you have to think about this some infection can only be cured by an anti by mth not by i.v.
if at all possiable you need to finish a course of your anti to get over this infection. I do know how painful they can be.
never start an anti and stop it without your doctor knowing or until you run out.
Please call your doctor back.
hope you feel better soon and get the infection gone.
