What do you think??????
Hi
I am a waitress for a living. And one of my coworkers had given me a number to do side work for a caterer. I dont know if it was just me, but I didnt like the questions she asked. What did I look like? how much did I weigh, how tall? my haircolor and eyecolor..And then she commented on my friend, how her appearance could use a little work, especially that lip thing she has going on,(she has a little hair above the lip) I know the lady works with rich cliental,I can see being neat and clean but I thought and employer didnt have the right to ask things like that. I told my husband I felt like I was being interviewed for a runway model LOL. Anyway the more I think about it, I dont think I am going to do it, and not to mention my hubby wasnt happy with the personal questions. Am I married, single , do I have children? I dont know maybe it was me. Anyway the transportation might have been a small problem,so I backed out. I just dont know if I could work for someone with that attitude. Oh yeah then she was asking me what size shirt I wear, because of the uniform thing , I told her I was small on top, she replies like your flatchested. Myabe I took this lady wrong.-jojo

You were probably right not to take it. She didn't sound very professional by what your post said. I don't think she would be very supportive if your IC gave you problems on the job. Good choice of saying no if you ask me.

I have to agree that you did the right thing. I think I would also have some questions about her motives in asking personal questions. I think your instinct was good.
Hugs,
Donna

I totally agree, I shouldn't think your apperance would affect how you proformed your job.
I think it's sounds like the right choice & I'm sure another job will pop up where they wanted you for being a good worker & not on your dress size or hair colour.
Good Luck
Andrea

Hi JoJo,
I don't know much about the labour laws where you are, but I am sure that they are somewhat similar to those in Canada's.
Most employers are not supposed to ask those sorts of questions -- it's sounds like they are quite discrimatory.
I am glad you did not take the job, you can find something better where they treat their staff right.

it is illegal to ask those sorts of questions ... anything about marital status, kids, etc. all illegal. if these questions are asked in an interview, it is your right to state the fact .. though if you want to be more polite, you can just say that you are not comfortable with this line of questioning. even if it seems like it's a natural conversation "... my daughter blah blah blah ... what about you?" illegal. don't forget your rights. this is all fresh in my memory cause the college i go to i have to take a business and ethics class. ;P lucky me

I wouldn't of taken that job either. If you didn't feel comfortable in the interview then chances are you probably won't feel comfortable working for her. Chelsey

Has anyone ever had problems w/ urinanalysis? I've just got a new job and have had my 1st test come back diluted. I thought no big deal, but it is they looked at me like I was trying to hide something. I told them of my IC and need to drink high volumes of H2O. I called my dr she sent me a letter to explain. I did take another test (drank less H20 Prior) and it still looked lite in color. so now I wait. If it's diluted again I'll give them my docs letter. Just wondering if anyone else has had same issues.

Looks pale or tests pale? pale is good for all-means proper hydration....hmmmmm, not sure.
May I suggest moving this to another new thread, where it will recieve the appropriate attention? It might get lost here...go to the main forum index and actually, use this forum, but start a new thread, you can copy and paste if you know how, vs typing all over. Plus you can give it a title to get attention.
I hope that way you get more answers, someone here could help I think. Sorry for the mess, hope its cleared up soon.
