safe acidolpholus
Hi everyone. Is there an IC-safe acidopholus I can take while on Macrobid for a "possible" UTI? I got the symptoms over the Thanksgiving weekend (of course!), so rather than go to the ER for a culture, my on-call doctor just started me on an antibiotic. But I always get so sick on them (before IC, this is my first UTI since being diagnosed), and I'd like to help myself with a good reliable acidolpholus that won't irritate my bladder. Thanks!

I was told the macrobid doesn't cause vaginal infections and it never did for me. I am not sure why you want acidolpholus? One uro told me it would "undo" the benefits of the antibiotic so perhaps you should check with your uro, too. Hope you are feeling better soon!

My thoughts are acidolpholus are they help to prevent yeast infections and twingy is right on that if UTI is your main worry don't bother with them. If you did mean prevent yeast infection there are many ideas at the yeast bord. Does do a search there.

Am I correct in thinking you are actually asking if there is an IC-friendly brand of acidophilus you can take? Many brands do contain additives that can cause problems. I found Nature Made Acidophilus is free of artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. The only additive is corn starch.

Thanks, Annie. Yes, I am looking for an IC-safe acidophilus. It is a good thing to take daily, especially since most of us can't do yougurt. I will look for the brand you mentioned.
