In need of help

can you have a uti if your on a antibiotic?

Yes. If you're taking an antibiotic and having UTI symptoms, it may be that a culture and sensitivity test are needed to determine exactly which antibiotic will be effective for the specific bacteria causing the problem.

Yes, infact I have had times when I needed to switch anti to start feeling better. I could hardly believe it. Hope you feel better Kelly!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, been there and, unfortunately, done that. Nitrofurantoin (spelling?) did not work for me. Get a urine test done for culture and sensitivity, as Donna suggested. If you are resistant to your current antibiotic, then the bacteria will show through. If a sensitivity test is done, then you will know exactly what antibiotic your bacteria is sensitive to. I hope you are feeling better soon! I can never tell if it is just my IC or an infection so I always get urine tests done.

It can happen easily. On my ER visit they didn't see anything on the original UA and by the time the culture came back I was admitted with a super bug because the bug was resistant to the abx that they gave me in the ER.

Yes these ladies are right i have been there and bought the t-shirt.

Medicine taken daily or as needed:
1. Heaprin and Marcaine rescue installment 1 to 3x daily as needed.
2. MS.Cotin 100mg 3x daily
3. MSIR 30mg 1 or 2 every 4-6hrs as needed for breakthrew pain.
4. Fentanyl 100 mg Change every 48hrs.
5. Gentamicin 80mg install after each rescue treatment
5 Leviquin 500mg self start as needed.
6. Klonopin 1 or 2 daily as needed.
7. Prosed/DS as 1 every 6hrs as needed.





I have IC, but IC doesn't have me anymore!

Thanks for the responses. I had quit the evening last night but eventually took my meds and said my prayers feel asleep rather late or early this morning and today was much better. It looks like either way a call to my Obgyn will made tomorrow. I had some weird things going on. Glad I was able to make it through thanksgiving and whatever happend seems to be better.
