Help! Keflex question

I could really use some help. I started keflex tonight for a toe infection. Within two hours my bladder is flaring big time. When I looked on this site for more keflex reactions, most seemed not to be flared by this. I am just miserable about the idea of 10 days of this and I have only had one dose! Any advice, miracle cures

I have another thought. Maybe it wasn't the antibiotic. Maybe it's the novacaine used to numb my toe for the procedure.

Thanks,
Hope

I hope someone here can help you with this. We all react differently to things so the cause of a flare is not always easy to figure out. Maybe it was the the antibiotic...but maybe it was the novacaine or something else altogether. I hope you feel better soon!!!!

I had a horrible reaction to keflex. I was put on it 2 years ago and ended up not only causing my IC to flare up misserably but also make half of my face go numb. Not sure why it did either, but I can definitely say that once I stopped the Keflex my flare died down and went away.

Thanks for the replies. Thought I should update in case anyone seeks keflex info. I am happy to say that it has not flared my ic at all. I think that really bad flare on the first day was in response to the novacaine used on my foot. I was surprised that something shot in my toe would affect me systemically. Luckily, it was just a bad half day, and now ok.

Take care,
Hope

Hope, thanks so much for telling us....that is imp. to know. So probably was the novacaine eh? You should try to find out what exactly they used and avoid it!

So happy you are ok now!!!!

It might not have been the novacaine either, they inject my bladder with lidocaine and marcaine, The flare could have been from the stress of the procedure itself. I have so many flares just from stress. I hope you feel better soon.

Many things that are used to treat us can hurt some others of us! Probably the only rule of IC lol I put lidociane in me weekly and usually love it! I often believe in the world of IC if it helped someone it can hurt someone else. We all need to be very careful!!
