Boric acid for yeast and UTI's

I have a new theory. I have been on boric acid douches every other day for a year for recurrent yeast infections. Well, funny how I have had 6 bladder infections since then. I think the entire ph and vaginal lining protective layer have been compromised and left me vulnerable to these UTI's. If I'm wrong with this theory, I am all out of ideas.

Hmmm... now this is very interesting. I think your conclusion makes sense. If you're too high in acid, the tissues can become irritated, inflamed and, perhaps, less able to fight off infection. Guess you won't know until you stop the Boric Acid.

BTW... I've used Boric Acid... but never for as long as you. Are you sure it's supposed to be used over the long term? At the most, I've used at 7 days.... or once a week for a month or so.

BoricAcid for yeast and UTI's

I used it so long because I was taking antiobiotics for twice weekly installations (that did nothing) and had so many infections that I was trying to prevent yeast at all costs.

Perhaps you should leave off the boric acid and try acidophilus capsules instead to deal with the yeast?

I take boric acid in capsule form (vaginally) and I don't get UTI's, and it stops my yeast infections dead in it's tracks. Douching is awful.

I heard excess douching is not good for the vagina PH or something like that.

As anybody else heard that? I also heard about the acidophilus capsules. It is worth a try. I get yeast infections too!

Hi Mel,

I have heard that about douching. It gets rid of good bacteria or something. My ob/gyn says that it is not a good thing to do, and that's why she put me on boric acid capsules, to help with the yeast problem. They really do help.

HI, I was happy to see the subject of boric acid. I have some questions. My doctor wanted me to try boric acid capsules for yeast. He said it can stop a yeast infection, even when it's not the candida strain of yeast. He also said it's reletively inexpensive. I went to my coumpound pharmacist and she said it won't kill yeast, it will just prevent an infection. I've read conflicting material. What is everyone's experience??? Also what dose and how many nights do you use it to get good results?? I bought 5 capsules for $15!!!! ( Since I have VERY sensitive tissue down there, we were just trying it out right now, that is why the 5 capsules) Is that more than it usually costs?? I'm thinking maybe a normal pharmacy would be cheaper. Any info is apreciated This time the Diflucan isn't helping. Thanks, Grace

I have had too many times when Diflucan didn't help. I don't know anything but wish you the best of luck and would love to know it goes for you.
