Question about yeast infection meds...
Ok...so I think that I had a yeast infection. I'd just ended two weeks of heavy duty antibiotics and last week had the horrible itching. BUT, when I used the yeast infection meds (the cream you insert) they burned and itched like CRAZY! Is this normal?
Now I'm wondering if I didn't have a yeast infection, but instead had a flare up of Vulvadyna (sp?).

I think I remember a doctor teling me that it can be normal for the area to feel more irritated the first few days on the yeast cream.

Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Lexapro (since 2003 for depression & anxiety, but also helps my IC)
Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)
My IC story: http://www.ic-network.com/patientstories/kim.html It's very outdated now. I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for several years now.

Ummm.... I found that after the second or third day, they also sting more.... specifically the Miconazoles & Monistats. I do much better with Mycelex cream (OTC) ... and/or Nystatin cream.. preferably Nystatin with triamcinolone (prescriptions).
One thing about yeast infections, though, is that they are now becoming more resistant to most over the counter products, especially Monistat and Miconazole.
