Hydrodistension & Cystoscope
I had a hydrodistension and cystoscope for my IC on 9/7/04 and on 9/8/04 i was in the ER with severe abdominal pain, no bowel sounds and a slight temp. a CT scan was taken and it showed a ruptured bladder on the right side. i was put on a month's bladder rest for 1 month with a catherer in place and on 10/14/04, the urologist wants a cystogramn. i am afraid to have this done b/c he will be instilling the bladder again. is this necessary? i question the length of this bladder rest. . i had to return the other night to the ER as the urine was bypassing the catherer. they put a new one in. I questioned the doctor and he said this cystogramn has to be done. anyone have any information? .. i live in NJ.

tonice,
only know that a cystogramm is to check for backflow/reflux, i think.
i had it and it hurt like h-ll because i had ic at the time and didn't know it.
ask for some pain meds for sure.
good luck....
you can always ask your doctor what he is looking for with the cystogramm??!!

cystogram
hi shenna, thanks for your info. yeah, i asked him what he is looking for with the cystogram and he said, he has to make sure that the rupture has healed. he said at one point the test is painful b/c of our condition and normally he would put patients out - well, now he is having a radiologist doing it - i am demanding pain meds. see my point he is refilling the bladder again - do we tear the rupture again with my bladder being small and thin from the IC? what a month this has been.

I don't know enough to say anything but wanted to wish you good luck and I'm sorry you had to go through that experience, it must have been bad and I'm glad you are healing now and I hope that will never happen to you again.
Blessings, Lori
