Prednisone?

(I know prednisone is a steroid and not an antihistimine, but I couldn't think of anywhere else to put this!)

My doctor decided to try me out on a week or two of prednisone to see what effet it has (I have IC plus something not identified yet). It has seemed to help the pain a bunch (plus my sinuses are clear but I still have a bloated heavy abdominal feeling and am very flu-like - hot, achey and tired.

Anyone else have experience with prednisone or medrol or any other immuno-suppressing steroids?

I have, but only when my asthma/emphasema is acting up. It is a horrible drug with so many side effects, but it does the job.

I don't know how or if it works on IC. Good luck!

Prednisone

I've taken prednisone for allergic reactions. I was on and off it for a year. The best way I can describe it is a "miracle drug from HELL".

If taken for an extended period of time it can cause cataracts, mental fuzziness, round face, diabetes, weight gain, thinning bones etc. The list is pretty long. One doc described its side effects as that is ages every organ in your body.

The first few times I had to take it, it was for a short duration (a week). That wasn't too bad. Side effects went away soon after I got off it.

I was taking the prednisone for chronic urticaria before my IC was diagnosed. I noticed the pain from IC did become more mild but it was not worth it!!! It didn't permanently fix anything.

Be Careful! Do lots of research.

Von
