Angry Antibiotic causing flare?

Anyone have any experience with this? (I hope not for your sake!) I started a few days ago Minocin (in the tetracycline family) for my skin and wonder if I have a terrible flare from the drug or a yeast infection that has not yet revealed itself. At any rate there is frequency and burning big time. I am supposed to be on this for a month. Thanks, folks. Ratchada

I was on an antibiotic called Flagyl that really did a number on me. My urine turned green (was not taking uracille) and caused a bad flare along with severe cramps in my kidneys.
I just took a weeks worth of amoxicillan with no problems. You may want to consult your Dr. about another med.
Good luck.

Unhappy

Yep, I have experienced this and at this very moment am caught up in the viscious antibioyic cycle, wondering if they are making things better or worse. Two weeks ago I had penicillin for a middle ear infection and was in AGONY with my bladder the whole time. It stopped when I stopped the antibiotics. Now I am on penicillin for a UTI- I went to the dr in agony with bladder pain, blood etc so there looks to be an infection but now I seem to be in worse pain and I don't know if it's thrush!!! I hate this.

Im beginning to feel the same way. I was on ampicillin for a week for a UTI. It got somewhat better, then it seems as if the symptoms came back.. I was put on a very strong and very expensive new antibioitc called zyvox. After 5 days I was in agony! I stopped the zyvox and am dealing with what I believe is a flare ( I never had one before as I have been diagnosed for 5 months). I do think the antibiotic really hurt me a lot! :yikes: liz

I have to take Doxycycline for ocular rosacea and it kills my bladder each time I take one. I try to drink tons of water to flush it out quickly but it causes hours of pain anyway. When I took Ciprofloxacin recently for a UTI, it killed my bladder too.

I think many times IC bladders are hypersensitive to these meds and other meds. Often we have a hard time getting doctors to believe us about this, though.

Blessings, Lori
