I love my animals! I have fletcher my little Daschaund. ( My Favorite) He sleeps curled up behind my knee's. When it's time for me to wake up, he licks my eyes. I guess he has an internal clock!

There is Belle. She is so pretty, and sweet. Except she likes to catch kids on bikes.

Bear is the biggest, and sweetest! I love for him to walk up and lay his head on my tummy when it's hurting. The size of his head, the weight, and warmth makes my tummy feel better. I can be sitting on the couch, and it's the perfect height for him to walk up and lay his head on me.

RD ( Red Devil ) our Appaloosa, is a little turd! He's a 14 yr. old gelding, but I love him. He was so funny the other day. I was trying to shovel sand, but he was following me so closely that I had to walk around him, to dump the sand. It was the funniest thing. He kept checking my pockets for treats! He will sniff my hair, shirt, pocket's, shoes, whatever he can looking for goodies. I love to just spend time with him.

He's a little jumpy right now, Belle tried to attack him the other day! She's such a mess! I'm surprised the neighbors didn't call the Sherrif's Office. I was screaming bloody murder for my son to come help me get the dog. I was trying to catch her, and the horse was trying to kick her at the same time. I was praying I would not get caught betweent them. Although, I knew it was a possibility, I was still down there, trying to break it up!

I love my animals too.... I'm so at peace when I'm with them. Sammy (aka Samantha) sleeps on my bed every night sometimes right on my pillow... but usually tucked next to my stomach. In the morning, she digs under the covers until she can rest right next to my stomach for a few minutes. She loves to tunnel under blankets, bed spreads and anything else she can find.

I've had horses (Friar Tuck, a Morgan) , dogs and, more recently, cats. I used to ride as a teenager (Pony Club). If I could afford it, I'd love to have a horse again. I dream of living on a ranch in the foothills. One day maybe that will happen and I can adopt a mustang or two, along with a few greyhounds.

My sis is the much better rider than I and currently has two horses.. an appy mare that's over 20 years old and still in beautiful condition ... and Petey, the appy's boy (all brown) ... who is now about 7. Petey is a very big, curious, smart horse. He has alot of energy so she's hoping that she can sell him to the trainer at the ranch next door. He needs to be ridden more and she just doesn't have the time.

Jan also has goats... with which I've helped frequently, as well as sheep (4H projects) and, most recently, a renegade coyote cruising the animal area. Just had four baby goats about a month ago and they are sooooo cute. Unfortunately, they are all boys and we were hoping for girls to make goat milk soap.

I think that one of the best ways to judge people is by how they treat the animals in their lives. Bravo to you for being an animal lover. I'm really tempted to become vegetarian again... as I'm really frustrated with how animals are raised for food in such horrible conditions. I gave up my career in Pharmacology after what I saw happening with animals in research labs. That's one decision that I'm really proud of. We have to stand up and protect .. rather than hurt... these precious little souls who have as much right to be here as we do.

:::as she steps off her soapbox:::

Valli,
I also love my animals and I love anyone who loves any animal. They are gifts from God and I wouldn't be able to live without them. I have two dogs, one is part Husky and part Hound dog, named Rocky. He is 11, and the love of my life. One time my husband said "either the dog goes, or I go" and I told him to take the burgandy Samsonites, not the black ones.

I also have an 8 month old min pin, (miniature pincher) who I also love dearly, but is a bit wild still. She likes to chew up anything she can get her little teeth into. Otherwise, she is a sweetie. Her name is Lexie.

I also have a 2 year old cat named Sylvester, for obvious reasons. He is so good natured and puts up with so much crap from Lexie.

My husband had a snake. (not my cup of tea) He has no name and I have never held him and never plan on it.

I would love to have horses, but I live in a subdivision and I don't think I could pull that one off.

Do you find that when you are having a flare up the only ones who can calm you down are your animals? I do, everyone else just plucks my nerves.

So from one animal lover to another....

We have an absolutely adorable dal*****n (Meggie). She's a cuddler and sleeps on the foot of our bed. I had to take her to the vet this week for an ear problem and now am putting drops in her ear twice a day --- all I have to do is show her the tube and she trots over and jumps up on the love seat and waits for me to treat her.

Aww, how cute is that? If only my cat responded so well to taking medicine (or getting her claws trimmed).

Other than that though, she's one of the bigger joys in my life...
When I'm feeling poorly, she hops up in my lap, makes a weird little brrrriiiiip noise, wraps her paws around and washes my arm like crazy! When she's happy, she "quacks", and I've heard her chirping at the birds... I never knew cats made so many different sounds.

She's my first real pet, except for the evil hamster who got retired from my 5th grade classroom for biting the kindergarten teacher....

Oh, yeah, and the class pet rat. That caused quite a bit of cultural consternation as a number of parents sidled up to tell me, "Teacher, in our country, we just kill those, we don't build them a house and feed them!"

This week's favorite one-liner:
"I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by...

New second favorite:
"And which dwarf are you?."

Adding a third because I'm just so darn easily amused...
"Eagles may soar, but weasels aren't sucked into jet engines."

Current treatments:
-IC diet
-Elavil 20mg at night
-Ditropan 5mg at night
-Continuous use birth control pills (4-5 periods/year)
-Heparin/Marcaine/Sodium Bicarb home instills every night & sometimes in the morning also
-Pyridium if needed, usually once a week or so
-1 Darvocet at bedtime,
-Flexeril 10mg at bedtime
-Dye Free Benadryl for allergies occasionally
-Pelvic floor & myofascial release (external only) physical therapy for 8 weeks, then home exercise program...
-Managing stress
-Fur therapy: Hugging the cat!

Hi, I love the cat we have now, in fact I have loved all the cats we have had during the years. This one T.J. is part siamese with beautiful blue eyes, and beautiful apricot colored ears and apricot fur on his body. Smart, and so cute, we rescued him from the Humane Society, someone had fed him rat poison, and he survived and a neighbor bought him in. He is a great cat, fun to watch, loves being spoilt, and thinks he runs the household, which he does. He is the greatest, a wonderful furry friend who somebody tried to get rid of, glad we found him, Iris.

Animals are awesome! I have a 3 year old yellow lab who's name is A-ham. His real name is Abraham, but my little girl can't say that, so we all have started calling him A-ham. We got him at 8 weeks old & I remember when I got to the breeder's house & we went in the backyard, A-ham ran as fast as he could across the field & came to me & was licking me all over. In a way, I think that he picked me instead of me picking him. I had borrowed my neighbor's cat carrier to keep him in on the ride home only he wouldn't fit! I couldn't believe that an 8 week old puppy couldn't fit in a cat carrier! So, A-ham sat on my lap the whole hour drive home. He is such a goofy dog. He's scared of vacuums, hair dryers, & guitars. He gets lose about once a week because he can open doors. He can open bedroom doors, he can open the sliding glass door to the deck, he can open the front screen door, he can open the privacy fence gate, & he knows how to jump up & press the button to open the garage door. One time, he ran off & went to a house down the road & opened their gate & let their dog lose too!!!! I couldn't believe it! He also likes to rub his head on you like a cat would.

And I have a black lab named Raven. We got her last fall & have no idea how old she is, but she is definitely OLD. A friend of my mother-in-law saw her get pushed out of a van in the middle of a busy intersection. How terrible! So, my heart went out to her & we ended up adopting her. She has a breathing problem that the vet can't figure out. She huffs & puffs all the time. She can barely see & doesn't get around very well. And she throws up all the time. She almost always throws up after she eats & will go in the backyard & eat poop & come inside & throw that up. Oh, how I love cleaning up poop-puke. NOT! She's still a sweetheart & a very good dog & we all love her.

I think that when A-ham runs off that he's telling all the neighborhood labs to come here. For the past month, about once a week, we have a stray lab show up at our door. Isn't that wierd that they are all labs? Luckily, I always find where they belong. I don't have the energy to start a lab refuge.

We also have 2 guniea pigs named Daisy & Dizzy. I was told that they both were girls, but I later found out that wasn't the case when Daisy got pregnant. We noticed that she was getting really fat & a little later we could feel the babies inside kicking her. One morning we woke up to 4 little fur balls in the cage with her. They were soooo darn cute!

I also have 2 cichlid fishies & they have a story also. I used to have 8 fish, but a few years ago we had a terrible ice storm & didn't have power for a week. I lost all of the fish except these two. Then a couple months later, I woke up to a tank full of baby fishies. There were about 50 of them. One by one, they all passed away though. It's so strange that they all died except these original two. I am wondering if they're going to have more babies since they have the tank to themselves again, besides the algae eater being in there.

I love animals too. I'm definitely a cat person, but doggies are lots of cute fun too. We have a cat and a dog.

The cat's name is Paddington, because he is such a big, sweet bear of a cat. He is a Maine Coon. He weighs about 17 lbs right now and has not finished growing. He is Mama's Big Baby. When I get home from work, he runs to the door, and then jumps up on the counter to rub my face with his to say "hello, Mama!" He loves to play fetch... I throw things like paper wads and cat balls and he carries them back to me in his mouth. Sometimes he even initiates the game -- he loves to go find a toy in the morning before I"m awake (usually at an ungodly hour like 5:30 or 6am). Then he jumps up on the bed and drops the toy on my chest to tell me it is time to play fetch. At night, he falls asleep next to me like a little person, with his head on my shoulder and his paw across my chest.

We also have a long haired Chihuahua named Henry. He kind of doesn't look like a chihuahua, because he somehow got to be twice as big as a normal chihuaha. Normal ones are supposed to be about 6 pounds, but Henry got to be 11... and then he was neutered late in life and ballooned up to a very rotund 14 pounds. Yikes. We have him on the weight-loss food but so far he hasn't lost any weight. (Like me!!! LOL) My hubby had Henry when we met... Henry is going to be 10 years old in August, so he is getting to be an old man. He gets grouchy sometimes, and his stomach is sensitive... he throws up a lot, just like your dog, Karma.

I liked reading about all your animals. They really do make you feel better. I have a cat named Cindi. She's about 10 yrs old, has white fur with orange markings. She's extremely spongy, and I often refer to her as "Cindi the Marshmallow cat." I have a photo album of her on Webshots; if anyone would like to see them, just let me know.

Nothing too unusual about her, only that she occasionally says, "thank you", or what sometimes sounds like "Yahoo". When I give her food and say, "can you say, thank you?", she does, and sometimes it very clear.

At night after I get under the covers she comes up right by me and extends her paw out to touch me. She can't understand why my head is just showing and wonders where the rest of my body went. She often sleeps just above my head, like a big, furry hat.

Classics... that's great about your kitty saying "thank you." Mine talks too -- one morning he jumped up on the bed and started licking my face. When I opened my eyes, he said quite clearly "MA!! Food!!! NOW!!!!" It was clear enough that my husband rolled over and said, "Did he just say Ma, Food Now???????"

LOL

I swear our animals are almost human. I know our cat loves to get under all the bed covers, all you can see is this big lump in the bed. He is so curious about everything, watched me washing strawberries today and wanted to eat one of them, everything I do he is right there, has to smell everything and either wants to eat it, or play with it. He just makes me feel great, even when I do not feel like doing anything, he is right there either beside me or sitting with his head over the top of the laptop screen. Just love him to pieces, cannot imagine being without an animal around me. My daughter works at the Zoo part time and comes in contact with all sorts of animals, fed an aardvark the other day and a snake, she has some very interesting experiences with all sorts of animals. Her and her husband have the brady bunch of cats, we call them, five of the furry little people. I have a great time with all of them. My cat is insisting I get off the computer and play with him now Iris.

AWWWWWWWWE how cute!!! I love all the animals. Everyone in my family has a couple. My older sister who has the most has a husky with one brown and one blue eye. Sammy is so beutiful. Then she has Belle, a cholcolate lab, who is awesome with my kids, 2 pit bulls named baby Burke and Lily Blossom, and five kitties including a rose point siamise Shooshie, two tortoise shell, two tabbies named Sophie, Hobs, Troubles, and Rascals. She just moved them all to Florida. She had to give them seditives and her hubby packed Sammy's sedative so he howled, pooped, peed, and barked the whole way there. Yikes! My mom has two kitties and a mini pin who pees on her purse all the time named Mickey, (he looks like a mouse too!). He has HUGE ears and he's so silly looking. I told her she might have to have him nutured? I guess? My other sister has a chiauwa sp? named Bently and a mini pin named Bella. I have a mixed breed golden retriever and rhodesian ridgeback named Sasha. She's so beautiful. She looks like she's wearing eyeliner! She's such a lady and she crosses her legs when she lays down. I have three kitties named Kovu, Kiarra, and Zowie. My kids named the two after the second Lion King movie which no one saw because they are like who? What are their names? I'm getting a Himylayan this July. He\she was born in a slipper. I lost my precious Lucy last May. I had her since I was 14. She passed away very unexpectantly. She was so unique. She would climb up my back to go upstairs to bed, wait byt the window for me to get home, jump up in my arms, and when I cried she'd lick the tears off my face which made me cry more because ouch kitties tounges are like sand paper. I miss her so much. I think that Paddington is such an adorable name for a pet too! I love mancoon cats. Has anyone heard of the cat that looks like a mini cheetah or something? I love BIG cats. I once saw a cat about 20lbs or so at the vet's office. She called him Thunder because when he growled it sortof rumbled from the cage. Needless to say he stayed in his cage. My dog won't let us cut her nails. She was born in the woods with her litter and they were all out there for about 2 months or so. She is such a sweetie but won't budge when it comes to that. She gets mad when my hubby touches her feet. I can but still she won't let me cut them. Wew tried once and she stayed in her room for the whole day. I swear she carries a grudge. Well I better stop running my mouth. Take care everyone - Chris
