Where can I eat out?!
I never eat out anymore, but sometimes I want to take my daughter out to dinner. What are the safest restaurants you've eaten at? What did you order?

Eating out
I went to Outback and had a baked potato with butter, also had their steamed broccoli. Very good.
Mexican Food place I ordered plain bowl of pinto beans and side of tortillas. I could also eat the chips.
At McDonalds I don't like really fast food, but we were on the road--so it was breakfast and I had the pancakes and rubbery eggs.
So far though, I haven't eaten out much. The problem is that when we are traveling, I've found it so hard--you can only pack so much. So I'll be interested in the other replies you get.

I've eaten at Outback. I had steak with no seasoning, fries (they make them fresh from potatoes) with no seasoning and steamed broccoli.
Cracker Barrel, just breakfast. I do fine with their pancakes and real maple syrup.
Red Robin I order a plain hamburger with lettuce.
Mexican restaurant-I can't remember the name of the place but I got a bean burrito (just beans and tortilla) and was ok with that but that's the only time I've been to a mexican restaurant since diagnosis.
McDonalds-Plain hamburger, fries, vanilla shake.
Wendys-Plain hamburger, fries
That's all I can think of right now, but I can usually get an unseasoned hamburger or steak just about anywhere.

Oh, this is getting good. I hope more people write! Thanks so much for the suggestions. I'm new, so I don't really think "outside the box" yet!

At McDonald's, I can eat the fish sandwich without the tartar sauce (same at Burger King). I occasionally order a plain roast beef sandwich at Arby's and it hasn't caused a flare. If I'm going to a non-fast food restaurant, grilled cheese is typically fine for me (safe bread/American cheese) and, if at a fancier place, asking for plain salmon has always worked out just fine for me.

At Carrows or Fuddruckers, I get a plain hamburger or cheeseburger with american cheese, plain unseasoned fries & a vanilla milkshake (just ice cream & milk, no syrup or whip cream).
I also like breakfast places like Country Waffles. I get pancakes with honey (the fake syrup triggers my IC) or hashbrowns with eggs & toast with honey.

Hi there! I am a pretty busy person and often find myself eating out at times (not lately - but sometimes I do). I will say that I am someone who is less effected by diet than most ICer's since I've been on meds. I do still have to be careful. I do have some diet triggers and I am careful what I order when I eat out. As a rule of thumb I eat things pretty plain - I order anything that has a sauce on it with the sauce on the side (including condiments) or without the sauce all together. If I can tolerate the sauce I will dip my fork in the sauce with each bite instead of pouring it all over my dish. I've learned that some sauces I can tolerate in small amounts, but not if I pour it over the entire dish - often restaurants make things with way too much sauce. If I'm eating Chinese - I make sure I get it without MSG and get all sauce on the side. I also order things without onions. I sometimes can tolerate certain foods with the help of prelief - yet I still try to limit the amount that I eat in one sitting. I can eat cheeseburgers from most fast food places if I order them plain or with lettuce only. I can eat Subway - usually turkey with cheese only. I avoid citrus and most fruits. I ask a lot of questions when I order food about how things are made and order things plain and without any ingredients that can be triggers for me. If I eat salad I often eat it without any type of dressing (even if it would be an IC safe dressing). If it has some cheese that I can eat on it, I often don't need the dressing anyway.
I hope you find some safe things to eat out. May you have some enjoyable dinners with your daughter.
Take care,
Jennifer

We don't go out much, not because of diet restrictions or anything. But if I go to a fast food place its either McDonalds or Wendys. For Mexican food there is a place in town that I can eat there foods, I have tried other mexican food places but they give me problems. I have tried Red Robins and I can eat there.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries- American Cheeseburger with Sauteed Mushrooms and Lettuce only with a regular fry
Outback- Steak without seasoning, baked potato
Carrabbas- Steak without seasoning, spinach (if you ask them they will cook this to order without black pepper or however you want it, they're very kind)
iHop- 2 Egg Breakfast- eggs scrambled, 1 bacon strip (just 1 for me!), white toast, Belgian Waffle with butter and honey
Ruby Tuesday- Cheeseburger (meat and cheese only) with seasonless fries
Chilis- Cheeseburger (meat and cheese only) with seasonless fries or a steak without seasoning and baked potato
Bonefish Grill- Filet Mignon no seasoning with both sides potatoes au gratin
Pizza Hut- Personal Panormous pizza with no tomato sauce, add extra cheese, mushrooms, and black olives. Traditional WingStreet wings. Cinnasticks (skip the icing that comes with it)
Planet Pizza (located in Largo, FL)- White Pizza add mushrooms.
Einstein Bros Bagles- Plain or Blueberry Bagel with plain cream cheese and butter
Well those are the only chain restaurants I go to regularly I can think of...
If anyone wants to know of some other restaurants in the Tampa Bay, FL area let me know!

I get carry out from Texas Roadhouse and ask them to season the steak with only salt and pepper. My boyfriend talked to one locally, and was told their steaks are not marinated or dipped in vinegar or anything prior to grilling, but are sprinkled with their seasoning which includes salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, etc. I could probably tolerate the seasoning myself but I don't like it as much. They'll do the sauteed mushrooms the same way.
