I just talked with my Son. He is very sick. I asked him if he was running a fever while he was at my house. He said he was. He told me that he dose not remember much about that day. I knew he was sick but.. how sick I did not know. I just got done talking with the drug store that I go to and they told me that I and my husband may end up with the virus. I just can not fight colds or the flu bug off. I'm very worried about myself and my family.

Hi !
I know what you are going thru , I suspect my 2 lil ones have it ... Im so scared ! People can die from this ! I plan on taking them to the doctors tomorrow Im hoping that if they start the antibiotics for it first thing that maybe it wont get that bad ? Ironically all 3 of my daughters were supposed to get the flu shot for this at the end of the week , go figure . I will say a prayer for you and your family that you all get better and that you dont get it ! Im scared like you about getting it as well ! I dont fight things off so easily , plus I smoke Im scared of what it could do to any of us So please say a prayer that my girls are ok and that I dont catch it as well , that this crazy illness goes the heck away already !!!!!!

Lauren. I hope your little girls don't have H1N1. The Dr put my Son on antibiotics and bunch of other stuff. Plus they gave him TammaFlu. They al so gave him pain medication to take. They said that he will be in a lot of pain. I guess the town that I live in has it really bad. I wish I have known about that before I had gone to the store to pick up some soup and stuff like that.
 For you and your family.

Have you called your doctor about your exposure? If not, I suggest you do today --- he/she may want you to have medications on hand in case you do start having fever symptoms.

Swine flu is a regular flu that is spread very easily, that some people get very sick with, but that is not the norm, most Dr.s will not give AB's for it unless like your son they are very sick.
They also say to call the DR. instead of taking your kids in and exposeing everyone else to their bugs. If they get really sick then that them to the ER.
As for the mom's or people who know they have been exposed, I would call your Dr. and ask about taking the tamiflu as a preventative. What you see alot is people who's kids get sick and they look after them and get tired and run down and then they get it to.
Both of my son's got it 16 and 23, both were quite sick for them, they were miserable fever, sore throat, cough, upset stomach, etc for a week, both had about 3 days where they didn't get out of bed or eat. They were very lucky because neither of them got a secoundary infection.
If you want to watch a good show about it google 60 minutes, the show aired 10/18/09, go to their web site and watch it, it covers H1N1it is quite good, it covers how a healthy 16 year old got it and ended up getting a secoundary infection and died from it but also how his teammates, cheerleaders and opposing team members got the flu but none of them died.
I feel for those of you who have family members they are looking after and are afraid of getting it too, I was lucky both of my boys live together to far away for me to go look after them or I am sure I would have got it too. I think you have a very ligitamite reason to be scared.
I will pray for all of you, lots of people where I live are sick with it, I am trying to avoid it, my daughter has been sick for the last week, I don't think it is the swine flu she has really not been that sick, but I worry about her getting it now that she is run down fom some other bug.
When in doubt call your Dr. their nurse can tell you how they are handling suspected cases, and what you should do and what you should be watching for.
Really hopping none of us get the swine flu we dodn't need it on top of everything else we deal with. MG

Thank you. My Son is 25 and he stopped by here other night and was sick. Was running a temp 102. He got worse on Monday so they gave him AB to take and plus Tamiflu and pain meds. As a Mother I was checking to see if he was warm and I gave him a hug. Thats the type of Mom I am. I just got done talking with him and he can hardly speak and his cough is very bad. I started to cough early this morning and my ears a hurting. I did not tell my hubby I was coughing do not want to worry him. Thursday is his B-Day and he wants me to play golf with him. Can't play on the day of b-day because its going to rain. Oh I'm just going to blame it on Allergies I called my URO and told them that my Son has the H1N1 and they told me that I'm in a high class of getting the flu. So we all need to be careful and take care of ourselves.

I just got over it- had 103 fever. My husband had something- was tested for swine flu but it was negative (was told that more than 3/4 of test came back that way) but he didn't have the regular flu but since he was showing signs of illness and because of his health he was prescribe an antibotic and the tamaflu.

Sending hugs and prayers to all that are sick.
I like most of you here cannot fight anything off. We spent the week-end with friends and a few of them were sick, so today, I'm feeling like I'm getting it in my chest. urrrrrrrrrrr!
Yes, there was a little boy of 5 that just died around my area from the swine flu.
My DO does not believe in taking any of the flu shots. Plus, I'm allergic to egg whites. He leaves it up to his patients to decide but he always tells you his opion on flu shots.
hugs and blessings

Hi Diamic 65,
How are you feeling? My daughter's doctors office told us the transmition period for H1N1 is 2-4 days. So maybe you've gotten lucky? I'm praying that the virus passes you right by.
